Neighborhood Laundromat, Strawberry Street — Local services in Richmond

The washers and dryers in my apartment building have been broken for what seems like FOREVER and they are horrible and SO OVERPRICED! Tonight I had enough and googled nearby laundromats and found The Neighborhood Laundromat Strawberry Street. I called to verify the closing time of 11PM per the website and got no answer. Within 3 minutes I had a callback from “AL” who welcomed me to come on over and said I could even bring my dog, I’m pretty sure he is in a remote location, doesn’t matter because he couldn’t have been a nicer person and talked to me as if we had known each other all of our lives! When I got there it was 10:35, I took in my large basket first and then realized I had left my other 2 baskets outside my apartment building. I got back in my car and off I go to get those. When I got back it was 10:45. I decided to do only 1 of my 5 loads because of time. It is now 11:40 and my jeans are in the dryer and hopefully no one comes and boots me out the door! So I just found out that this location is definitely remote as the alarm started setting while folding my jeans, my dog and I made it out the door before everything locked up and locked us in. Great location, washers & dryers are clean and well maintained and the laundromat was very clean and they have free WiFi. New to me that I really like is The Laundry BOSS app for paying, you set up your account, add your card info then just scan the code on your washer/dryer and the app walks you thru the rest. I will be returning, hopefully with my s**t together next time! The washers come in 3 different sizes and costs, $3, $4.75 and $5, I used $4.75 and it took 20 minutes. It took my jeans 20 minutes to dry There are 14 regular laundromat sized dryers and 2 “HUGE” dryers, the dryers are .25...

my phone was stolen during a busy sunny afternoon on a weekday at this laundromat. I set it down on a counter, stepped outside to shake the dirt off one of my blankets, walked back inside and it was gone. There are security cameras in the building. I called the police and they asked the owner for the footage. He refused and said he looked at the tape himself and didn't even see a girl set down her phone at any time during the day. This was clearly a lie to keep the phone for himself and sell it. It was a brand new Samsung Galaxy s22 when it had first released and the phone was about 4 days old. It was valued at 1100$ at the time.

Disgusting business owner to prey on his paying customers. I did my laundry here for years before this happened but never went back...

The Neighborhood Laundromat is clean and the machines are dependable. What more can you ask? Based on probability there might be a chance that a machine might fail to work but there seems to be a really convenient way to issue a complaint and ask for refund even though there’s nobody present that can manage those expectations.

I have couple if laundry machines at my apartment complex, but I would rather take them to the Neighborhood Laundromat because I know I’ll always get...
