This was my first ever visit to Culver's. We looked forward to it because of the founder's rave of his food and that they're not in the area where we live.
There were 4 of us. Children had chicken tenders. Dad had cod dinner. I had a cod sandwich. The cost was almost $42. We ate in.
We were really disappointed with the overall taste and quality of the food. The chicken tenders were flat and dry and overwhelmed with a breading that was clearly cooked too long and had no flavor.
The fish was flaky but very greasy. It fell apart as it was picked up. The batter also was over cooked with no flavor. The fish sandwich was served on a very dense bun roll that overwhelmed the taste of the fish filet even after taking the top half off the sandwich.
The fries were great crinkle cut but also overwhelmed with the taste of old, overused oil.
I suppose we should have all tried the butter burgers that I've heard such good things about. This store had many patrons at the time of our visit, and all were having the burgers but us.
Culver's needs to rethink fish and chicken because I would never recommend either to anyone. I hope to try the butter burgers one day, but not in a hurry based on my 1st ever visit.
The service was prompt and friendly. We did not complain about the food to staff because we did not want the food replaced with the same items and were pressed for time in...
Read moreGuy at the register was heard loud and clear. I keep going to a barbecue restaurant where the person taking the order is really hard to hear, which is funny because this Culver's has masks and they didn't even hinder this guy's voice. Even his body language was pretty good.
We got crispy chicken sandwiches, and my mother actually noticed the chicken was different sizes. I could honestly do with smaller portions, but the variations makes it obvious that this is WHOLE meat; I don't think it's ground chicken.
The cheese curds also have a bit of variance, but not in that great of a way. They turn out different at each Culver's location, even though I eat all of them anyway. This location had some of the best texture in theirs, but the flavor wasn't the same as what I had in Wisconsin.
Didn't get the onion rings here, but several locations have had better ones than like 80% of non-fast restaurants. Shout-out to the weirdos who put extra salt on theirs; I think that was in Indiana.
The building is actually hard to find; easy with a map, but invisible from the road. I bet they get a lot of returning customers, but people from the highway...
Read moreI provide concise reviews and details. This is my second time here, it has been about a year since my last visit (last visit was not great).
First off a three piece cod dinner is now $16.19 and a complete waste of money. Never get a cod basket or dinner here.
See picture, cod portions are at least 1/3 than what they used to be. Mashed potatoes and gravy used to come in decent sized containers, now they dab potatoes on same dish as the cod.
If you like lemon on your fish good luck, just one sliver provided. Used to get 2 dinner rolls, now one.
Cod is akin to a fish stick now, you can eat with fingers now, dip in the tarter sauce if you want.
I am sure the franchise owner will say this is a Culver's issue but it isn't. Franchise owner can raise issue with Culver's and not raise prices.
Finally they offer a 10% veterans discount but not really ( see picture). Our total was $37.86 and the discount provided was $2.45...
A 10% discount should be $3.79. Cashiers had no idea what I was talking about. Basic math skills are horrible.
Very...
