⭐️⭐️ (Overall 2/5) Home2 Suites – Multi-Location Review (Richmond, Raleigh, Philadelphia)
I recently stayed at three different Home2 Suites locations on a nine-day trip — Richmond VA, Raleigh NC, and Philadelphia PA. While all three hotels were conveniently located, the experiences varied greatly, and none of them lived up to the Hilton standard I expected.
Richmond (⭐️⭐️⭐️/5) Checked in 8/15/2025 Checked out 8/17/2025 Richmond was the best of the three. The location was convenient and overall the stay was smoother. The main issue was communication with housekeeping, since most staff did not speak English. I was only able to communicate with one staff member because her young son (around 9 years old) translated for her. Despite that, the hotel functioned better than the others and set a modest standard.
Raleigh (⭐️⭐️/5) Checked in 8/17/2025 Checked out 8/21/2025 Raleigh was disappointing and raised safety concerns. The property was dirty — I had to report a soiled pamper that sat in front of the hotel for two days before it was removed. The pool was unclean and filled with objects from guests that had not been cleared. None of the housekeeping staff spoke English, which made communication impossible. Most concerning, there was a room where multiple men stayed, and they frequently stood in the doorway watching my children, including my two girls. It was abundantly clear that someone — possibly staff — was sneaking people into empty rooms to stay overnight. This made us feel unsafe and deeply uncomfortable.
Philadelphia (⭐️⭐️/5) Checked in 8/21/2025 Checked out 8/23/2025
Philadelphia had the nicest lobby, but my stay was the most difficult. My room had electrical issues — the microwave didn’t work, and the power situation was so bad I could not reliably charge my mobility scooter. My scooter eventually died, which made my travel home extremely difficult. Despite requesting an accessible room for my mobility scooter, I was placed in a hearing-impaired room instead. The bathroom had no shower chair, leaving me without a safe way to bathe. One front desk staff member was rude and dismissive when I asked for help, while another tried but was unable to resolve it.
To their credit, some front desk staff went out of their way to help me set up activities for my children and did their best to assist me with my mobility challenges. But the problems were bigger than kindness could fix. On my last night, the entire building had to be evacuated at 2 a.m. I was in an accessible room, yet no staff came to help me out of the building. I had to send my children down the stairs alone and, scared for my safety, I had no choice but to take the elevator. Staff later claimed a homeless person had pulled the alarm, but since the property is locked after 9 or 10 p.m. and requires a key pass, it is far more likely that someone with access to the building pulled it. This left me deeply shaken about security and oversight.
On top of this, parking cost me over $100 for the stay, with no consideration for my disabled license plate. Accessibility, safety, and honesty should never be overlooked, but they were here.
Final Note
Home2 Suites locations should provide a consistent and reliable experience. Instead, what I found was inconsistency, poor cleanliness, communication barriers, and in some cases, unsafe conditions. Richmond was the best, but even that location was only average. Raleigh and Philadelphia require immediate attention from management, particularly regarding safety, accessibility, and...
Read moreI stayed one night. I booked ahead of time for a king suite, specifically because my husband is 6 and a half feet tall and a linebacker. Sharing a queen bed is not comfortable. When we arrived we were given a queen suite. When I entered the room, the bathroom had obviously not been cleaned. There was a wet used wash cloth in the shower, the trash in the bathroom was full, the towels were a mess and there were hairs everywhere. The toilet paper was not changed and there was ripped paper towel laying next to the sink in the kitchen. the bed was not made well either. The trash in the kitchen also was not emptied. When I went to ask for a different room and that I had booked a king suite, even showing my reservation confirmation, I was told it was fully booked and no rooms were available. I get fully booked but I could still go on the website and book a room when I looked after I was told this. The person helping me said they would be up to clean things up. it took over 30 minutes for them to show up and they "cleaned" in 30 seconds with no cleaning products. They took the trash in the bathroom (not the kitchen), the wet wash cloth, and changed the toilet paper. Additionally the phone had no plug and was not working so I couldn't call the front desk. It was very clear the room had not been cleaned at all.
I try to stay at Hilton affiliated places whenever I can but I was really disappointed by this and grossed out. I tried to send a message to the Hilton help desk to let them know what happened and did not receive a response from them. Do not recommend staying here. If something happens, they won't try to...
Read moreMy very honest review. The hotel was built recently and it looks good as all is new inside. Breakfast was not bad if you like sugar in the morning, pancakes, muffins & etc… My biggest complaint is that there was a definite strong smell inside the suite which I couldn’t pin point first, until I spoke to the receptionist in the morning. Here’s the scoop: this hotel is pet friendly which I respect and honor; BUT after questioning the front desk further, I asked her whether they have assigned certain rooms for pet owners traveling alongside their furry friends & the answer was NO. Any of the rooms could have and would have had a pet at a certain time in the past; and her response was that housekeeping usually clean the room after the guests and their pets leave in the morning. Although the sheets have been washed carpet vacuumed etc… the residue of the odor still lingers and it is there to stay. Designating few rooms for that would be the proper and right thing to do & the fact that some guests might be allergic to dogs which would be a deal breaker in that case. Never again I would stay in that hotel. It’s...
