If you're ever in Richmond and craving some authentic, flavorful, soul-satisfying Caribbean food, Curry’s Caribbean Restaurant at 119 Leigh Street is the spot to be! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm smiles, the aroma of rich spices, and a vibe that immediately felt like home.
Let’s start with the food because WOW! The oxtails were absolutely phenomenal..... fall-off-the-bone tender, rich, and braised in a perfectly seasoned gravy that made you want to smack yo mama and lick the plate clean lol. You could tell they took their time cooking them right. Then there were the crispy cups that were little golden pockets of heaven! I tried them with both shrimp and cabbage and oxtails with mac and cheese, and each bite was like a mini explosion of flavor. The shrimp were juicy and perfectly seasoned, and pairing them with the crispy cup was genius. But the oxtail cups? Game-changer. Savory, juicy, and crispy all at once you’ve got to try them to understand how good they are.
Now let’s talk about the service. Our server Cameron was a total standout! He was friendly, super knowledgeable about the menu, attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely made us feel like VIP guests. He knew just when to check in, and even made a few great recommendations that hit the spot. His energy and professionalism added so much to our experience.
As if that wasn’t enough, the owner came out to personally greet us and make sure we were enjoying our meal. That kind of hospitality is rare nowadays. You could see their passion for the food and the community in every interaction. They were welcoming, down-to-earth, and truly care about creating not just great meals, but great moments. Curry’s isn’t just a restaurant it’s a whole vibe. Whether you’re coming in for a casual meal or looking for the perfect place to host your next event, this place has it all. The space is cozy, clean, and full of character — perfect for celebrations, gatherings, or just catching up with good company over amazing food.
In short, Curry’s Caribbean is a hidden gem in Richmond that deserves all the love and support. The food? A+. The service? Top tier. The atmosphere? Welcoming and full of good energy. Whether you're a longtime Caribbean food lover or new to the scene, Curry's will have you coming back again and again.

Dem oxtails were so damn good and juicy with a different type of flavor and spice that I had to walk back to the restaurant to talk to the Guianese chef to tell her how good dem oxtails were and that she knew that I knew dem oxtails was NOT Jamaican cooked but deep West Indian juicy flavor and saucy saucy like us VI people like it. Nothing against Jamaican spots. I love ahyu too but dis here hit different. Thats all I gon say. The fried plantains were soaking in its flavorful juices keeping it juicy and soft like I like. I stopped by Curry’s Caribbean Restaurant and Bar in Richmond, and wow — what an unforgettable experience! I ordered the curry rolls, stewed chicken with mac & cheese and rice, and stewed cabbage. As someone who loves cabbage, I have to say: I’ve never had better. The flavor was out of this world!
The mac & cheese was insanely good — creamy, rich, and packed with flavor. As a self-proclaimed mac & cheese connoisseur, this dish absolutely passed the test. The stewed chicken was perfectly cooked — moist, tender, and bursting with bold, authentic Caribbean spices.
Beyond the food, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, even to a first-time visitor with a baby in tow. The vibe was warm and happy, and I felt right at home. The service was quick, too — I didn’t have to wait long at all.
I’m not from the area and almost went somewhere more familiar, but I’m so glad I took a chance. I’m now driving an hour and a half home with an amazing meal and already planning my return. If you’re anywhere near Richmond, do not...
