Mudhouse Specialty Coffee Roasters — Restaurant in Richmond

This was such a great experience. Whenever I travel to Richmond, VA I’m always trying out new coffee spots. Mudhouse didn’t disappoint me. I had the root beer latte, yes! To all of my root beer lovers 😂. They make their own root beer syrup and you can taste that it is house made. I asked the barista how sweet was the drink and he responded “ it’s the perfect balance of root beer flavor and espresso.” Once I tasted my drink I can honestly say he told the truth. I tasted the hints of root beer with sasparilla and espresso. Perfect balance I suggest that you get it cold so you can experience the latte the way it was intended to taste. My son tried the lavender lemon tonic , which he said was better than the root beer latte. He said the balance was perfect. I also purchased the Yirh-Z Coffee beans….the best Yiragachaffe coffee I’ve had in a long time. When you buy a bag of coffee beans you also get a cup of coffee 😁. I loved the service from the barista when I gave him my to-go cup he said “ I’m going to run some water in it, to make sure the temperature of the coffee stays the same.” My picky eater son has the monkey bread and he said it was good and would get it again. Coffee was terrific, I love that they have such a variety of coffees and if you buy a bag they give you a cup free of charge. I personally would love it if they would make you a cup of coffee from the bag you buy so you can compare but that’s my 2 cents as a pretentious coffee consumer. I’d also love to see what grind size and ratios yall use too but again- understanding if I am not your targeted consumer. Service was good! I use to manage coffee and will say there was a ton of standing around from service and most tables were dirty which sort of dampened the atmosphere. It was nearly impossible to find seating because of dirty tables but as well as that SUN coming in! You all have got to figure something out with that sun and I hope to see more done to the back when the weather is warmer. I’d say this is now in my top 3 favorite places to go. Thanks...

Great spot! Warmly and quickly greeted coming in. Gentleman was very helpful with the options and recommendations for bags of beans. The caprese bagel sandwich was excellent. For drinks I got an espresso and tonic and he gave me a shot with the bag of beans. Espresso tonic was excellent and I highly recommend people try this drink even though it doesn't sound like it would work. It's super refreshing and tasty. The shot was their trust and believe blend (the bag I got) and was perfectly balanced. I was disappointed there wasn't a larger selection of bags of beans but he said they were getting restocked later in the week. Atmosphere is excellent. Good music....
