The excitement we had in visiting The Hive came to a complete stop when we entered the building. Birthday plans were made to celebrate a 50th birthday. The birthday girl decided a month in advance that we would have dinner at The Hive. We shared the IG page, reviewed the pictures and menu, based on that alone we couldn't wait to visit. Unfortunately, looks were deceiving! It took hours for our food to arrive and we all ordered at the same time and each dish came out individually with huge gaps of time passing in between. We couldn't eat together because each one of our dishes was getting cold waiting on the others. The drinks were watered down, the shrimp and grits were not authentic shrimp and grits but had their own spin on the them. The shrimp were undercooked and whiter than the grits with no seasoning. I ordered the Cajun Chicken Pasta and added shrimp. My entree was served under room temperature (but it was made fresh per owner) the pasta did not have the chicken in it, the shrimp were just like shrimp cocktail. I asked if the chicken was included in the Cajun Chicken Pasta the waiter confirmed with the cook that it was, but yet, there was NO chicken. Later, a bowl of chicken was brought to me to add to my pasta. Unfortunately, the chicken was grilled on the outside but not cooked all the way. The shrimp that was an extra charge to add to my pasta but it was served cold, unseasoned on top of my Cajun Non-Chicken Pasta. The next entree was the marinated ribeye. The cut of steak was questionable. Was it a ribeye and was it marinated? This took over an hour and it was not marinated as it could not be cut with the steak knife and it was not cooked as ordered (medium) it was more rare. Fries were served with the unidentified steak as they were out of baked potatoes. The steak caused sickness that evening that included vomiting and upset stomach. When my friend tasted the steak she immediately knew something was wrong. The other guest ordered the same pasta I ordered and her dish was very presentable. The pasta included grilled chicken and shrimp, totally different from mine but yet we ordered the exact same meal at the exact same time and her meal came out an hour later (it was served cold). I showed the 2 dishes to the owner to ask "how could the same meals be cooked so differently, no response" Others still waiting for their meal, the birthday girl had to get her meal to go and the others canceled their orders. The owner came over and I tried to explain the issues. She immediately said she would take it off my check along with one of my drinks. Well, that was not the my goal, my goal was to explain in hopes of her listening in order to improve the process in the future. She blocked everything we said. As a business owner it is a good practice to listen to your customers, not just the praise but the constructive feedback as well. She would have rather taken the entree off of my ticket only to avoid listening to valuable feedback. Even as a family business it would be also a good practice to not allow children to run around in the restaurant during business hours, and do not ignore your customers while sitting next to them as the owner could hear us discussing the menu with questions. Yes, the owner sat next to us as we all discussed the menu. She looked over at us and listened to us but never acknowledged us or asked if she could answer our questions. I will end my comments here but myself and my friends and I will never visit again or make a good recommendation. Just a an additional note: Dinner was at 6pm, and we were not advised of the items that were not available until we attempted to order them. Sometimes I give a second chance to businesses as things happen beyond our control but the attitude of the owner/manager alone is a no for all of us. Best of luck to the server because he was great considering the poor conditions he was working in. Did I mention he was also...
Read moreWe had reservations for 10....we were advised everything was G2G...5pm reservation. Ordered drinks and it took nearly 40 minutes to get one drink and my drink although offered on drink menu, It was not available ( after waiting for drink I was advised). Then a light colored drink came out and I was advised this drink was the last available....it tasted like sour mix only with ice ( drink should've had Jameson in it). Order appetizers and mussels were not available after ordering. Around 630p we were advised there was only one cook. We watched as other patrons came got food and left before parties at my table were served. My sis asked for house salad with ranch....it came after well over an hour after ordering with no dressing. Waitress then advised sorry we don't have any ranch....waitress does bring a nearly empty bottle of Italian dressing that my sis squeezed on to salad that had frozen pickle slices on it...I did attempt to order curry mussels...they didn't have any.....sis and brother burgers came out pink, like mooing pink after asking for well burgers.....the re- fry/try of burger came out with two bottom buns on one burger..smh...four burgers were ordered at my table but all were not made the same. Cajun pasta and fried shrimp had no flavor...My "14 oz" Ribeye for my birthday, I asked for medium with mashed potatoes and a Caesar salad...what came out was about a 8 oz WELL waffle House thin ribeye, house salad with pickles .....my wife didn't enjoy her pasta and not did I..it was bland ...three fish orders came out, all at different times to our table, and none had any seasoning. They did give us mystery hot sauce from a bottle...since I had a kraft bottle brought to me earlier in meal I figured the hot sauce could be anyone's. My tab for my family of 6 with my ribeye and wife's pasta removed came to just over $200 with gratuity....that was order of wings, two burger meals with reg juice drink, fish platter and shrimp sliders platter( my daughter shrimp sliders came out by themselves and the waitress brought her fries out 40 minutes later). Fridge cold cornbread was provided on fish meals and for my mother's...
