In Richmond There is a Debate of Who has the better chicken, Some people say Zaxby's some people say Raising Caine. Myself I say it's a choice but we'll drive into this discussion here and i'll give you my take on it. To be fair in comparing chicken. I had to do side by side comparison of the chicken in what each one serve. Caine has mostly Chicken Fingers. So I tried the Chicken Finger Platter Zaxby's has. The meat is of course boneless white meat. Quality wise i'd say its on par with Tyson's chicken. The chicken meat is tender and juicy. Which suggest that Zaxby's either has the chicken in some sort of brine. For an X amount of hours. Or there is some MSG in the chicken. Perhaps both. But the flavor of the chicken is good. The breading on the fingers. Is a rougher looking. so the chicken breading is a more crispy and crunch taste to it. Over all the breading does make for a dryer taste in the chicken. I can't say good or bad. Cause some people prefer this style in chicken. After all other restaurant have chicken breading in a manner akin to this. And even some families cook Chicken in this style. But, it is most certainly been fried in a pan or deep fried. in a fryer. Now, moving on. Zaxby's has some crinkle cut fries. When I worked for the wholesaler Madison Groceries/ HT Hackney. The kids i worked with on second shift would make the drive all the way from the whole seller to Zaxby's. Let me tell you all for a lunch/dinner break that's a long distance. And that's saying something. They all Go Mmm about getting those fries. Let's move on. I've also tried the Wing and Things. You've got the sauce chicken, you can pick different flavors of sauces to put on it. So anyone who is a chill head can rejoice at getting spicy, and hot flavors. or if your not a fan of hot things they do have milder sauces. Then you've got the normal chicken Crinkle Cut Fries. Texas Toast, Celery, and the Zax, and Ranch Sauce. moving on . In other meals they do have seasoned fries. I'm not exactly sure on the spices. But it does have a feel to it kind of like steak season. And i'm sure it has at least onion powder, or Garlic powder or both on it. There chicken sandwich is alright. Maybe as a guy i prefer beef on a bun. So i've not found a Chicken Sandwich i'm overly crazy for. But if you want an alternative. the sandwich isn't bad. And lastly let's get into the Salads. which they call zalads Now I get the Cobb zalad. you can have your chicken either grilled or fried. or a garden Cobb zalad Now i'll let you know off hand. This is a big Salad! it should be for the price. But here's the thing. you can either get the salad for one or two people. or get it to go for your home. to break it down into smaller sizes while you fix something for dinner. I have no complains with uncleanness with Zaxby. and the staff have always adhered to being polite. Anyhow, hopefully this is of some help and as Always Maltese...
Read moreI have always liked the Zaxbys on Richmond rd. Until last night we went in to order instead of the drive thru. Well where do I begin 🤦♀️ first we ordered and took our cups to get our drinks while our food was being prepared. There wasn't any ice in the pop dispenser or any variety of coke products. There was a sign on the machine that said use ice machine thats good they at least have another source for ice. I go over to dispense my ice the cashier says oh we don't have ice ma'am. So I figure well at least the beverage should be cold from the machine. It wasn't it was Luke warm which isn't very refreshing on a 90 degree day to eat your dinner. Order is finally done so we go to sit down and I had ordered Buffalo boneless wings. There was hardly any sauce on the wings and in some places there none. The fries had very little of trace of seasoning. I watched as another couple came in and ordered. They asked for ice from the drive thru thand...
Read moreStopped through in somewhat of a hurry. We don't frequent Zaxby's, so it was something different. Ordering in the drive thru wasn't exactly painless, I had to repeat myself a couple of times. Seemed like a training session which is common in the industry right now.. We finally got our order in, pulled around, paid, and got our food. Easy enough. My signature chicken sandwich was delicious. It was hot and crispy. The pickles were a good contrast. It could've used a bit more of their excellent spicy Zaxby's sauce. My wife's salad was good. It was a bit large as most fast food restaurants have stopped offering smaller salads. She was going to make a second meal out of it, though so no loss there. All in all...
