Overall: I love their menu at least all the things I have tried so far they have fantastic vegetable options that actually are delicious. Their ice cream is so amazingly creamy and the flavors are blend well if you like multiple flavors to have two different flavor scoops like my sister and I do.
Best dishes in my humble opinion:
I love their shu mai, sesame chicken, healthy jumbo shrimp with vegetables and their mei fun is the best of any place I have ever gotten taken out from.
We order a lot especially while we were in the process of moving.
They are friendly nice, clean, polite, and deliver and their delivery people are good and polite. Plus the food is has been fairly good quality the many days we have order
Other positive things: For Disabled or low mobility people they have delivery that works out fine and I don't drive so that is good for me as I can't walk more than a few feet and use a wheelchair/ walker due to mobility issue from a past injury. One day I hope to be able to go there in person and see the ambience up close as I used to go to a diner with my family as a child and it looks so much like it (at least from the street when I have passed when I did have a ride into Ridgewood a few times in the past. Extra happy with Baumgarts Cafe because I can eat here without getting the high gluten food pain& overly spicy food pain I now get at so many of my former favorite places. Much of what I have at Baumgarts is mild enough for me but still tasty so my severe health changes have made this one of the only places I can go to without severe health...
Read moreThe food from this restuarant is so out of this world amazing, it cannot accurately be described with words. The portions are extremely generous and the prices are exceptionally reasonable.
Baumgart's is unlike any other Pan Asian restaurant in America, eschewing traditional "Chinese" fair, and absolutely perfecting every aspect of their cuisine. The amount of flavor and passion in every bite is not only savored, it is experienced.
I find myself pontificating at length about how delectable everything is after every single bite. It's as if every morsel is a new experience that needs to be described to anyone who will listen.
My number one recommendation is the Shanghai Wontons. You'd be remiss to order less than 2 of these per person. Every bite will leave you wanting more. The sauce that accompanies this dish has such a depth of flavor that it should be described with words like "brilliant", "perfect", or "awe-inspiring", because normal food words like "delicious" feel woefully inadequate.
If there's one place you ever decide to try in your life, I beg you to let it be Baumgart's in...
Read moreI have been eating here for 20+ years. The food and service have both declined steadily and instead of eating here at least once weekly, we dine here 4-5 times a year. I called to order dinner tonight, having already ordered 5 dishes and planning to continue an order that would come to around $120. I asked for extra house dressing on the side for the Baumgarts Salad ($9). I was told there would be an extra charge for additional dressing. I cancelled the order after I asked him to confirm that. He gave me a few different stories about how they only provide 1/2 tiny dressing container (perhaps half of a 2oz container), but the would fill it up without charging extra. Then said it’s house policy. Except for 20+ years they always provided extra dressing.
This is not the Baumgarts we knew and used to love.
And we won’t return. All for 1-2 oz of...
