I don't often give reviews, unless either I am completely disgusted or it's an overwhelming 5 stars. Although I'm just an amateur foodie, I have a deep appreciation for all types of just damn good comfort food and well prepared fine cuisine. The best and most heartfelt compliment I can give to this wonderful establishment and chef is simply, whether he knows you or not, this chef puts so much love into every ingredient, every portion and to the last bite and crumb for all his dishes that you feel you are his most loved child. All of the chef's creations seem to be very well planned and so fresh. Pay attention to all the types of sauces and combinations of international flavors he thoughtfully combines with great technique to make light and delectable, never overdone yet you can taste both the light subtle notes and full flavor. My date and I had so much fun trying all the menu. I think it's supposed to be an organic American-fusion bistro, but in one dinner it's basically like eating at 5-star restaurants in several different countries with creations (crab cake beignets??? a must try!). We shared the 6 course-dinner and also a strip steak. I usually only eat steak at the best steak houses so I can get pretty critical, but believe me, just eat whatever he makes for you....so so good. Being in the fitness industry, I hardly ever eat any dessert, but all of it is homemade and so fresh I had two! (must try the cheesecake and what they call..."campfire smore" something like that..) Best yet, it's BYOB but I highly suggest don't be a cheapo...Bring a good bottle of wine (at least $20-$40 if you really want to appreciate the food and tastes). And impeccable service...they make you feel important. Thank you chef. You are now at the top of my list of...
Read moreI’ll sum up Village Green Restaurant in one word FANTASTIC! We had the the walnut crusted Brie over apple and cranberry chutney and the lump crab beignets both were OUTSTANDING! I highly recommend both! For dinners we had the cod special which came over jasmine rice in a curry sauce and the organic fried chicken with pimento Mac and cheese with hot sauce butter. The cod was so fresh and perfectly cooked. The organic fried chicken was very good and so was the pimento Mac and cheese, but I wasn’t impressed with hot sauce butter. There was no heat to it as it says in the description. That dish needs to be paired with a better sauce. I highly recommend ordering one of their fabulous desserts! We had the almond cheesecake topped with marshmallows and chocolate sauce and the dark chocolate brownie topped with salted caramel gelato. Both were excellent, but my personal favorite was the dark chocolate brownie! It was rich and chocolaty, and the salted caramel gelato was out of this world! The rich and creamy texture and flavor blew me away! The only complaint we had is we found our waitress to be elusive. She wasn’t upbeat and refused to recommend any dishes off the menu in case we didn’t like them. We were first time customers so recommendations are always a plus. Plus she didn’t describe any of the dishes well either. She didn’t put any time in or effort as we were new to the restaurant. However, that won’t stop us from coming back, but hopefully we get a better waiter next time. I highly recommend dining at Village Green...
Read moreEvery time I visit The Village Green I leave feeling so full and happy that I am already planning my next visit by the time I get into my car. Nestled on a side street across from a church in Ridgewood, NJ, this cute restaurant has me dreaming about it's food long after I have left. If you are up for a food marathon, they offer a tasting menu that will have you rolling out of the restaurant by the time you are finished. If you do not want to commit to all that, the ala carte menu and daily specials are always amazing, the short rib and various house made pastas especially stick out. The staff is not only exceptionally well trained to create a seamless dining experience, but they are incredibly friendly and personable which adds that extra zest to an enjoyable night out. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, whether it be for a special occasion, date night, or even a meal to go, The Village Green has driven the culinary arts to a...
