Edit in response to owner If standing there and arguing with a patron after it just took 45 minutes to get their food out, and the people who came in 15 minutes after you already got theirs is the best you can do, I truly wonder how you're still in business. The food must be that good, but unfortunately I wasn't able to find out.
I had been wanting to eat here for years, and finally convinced my wife that we could find something that the boys would eat, and was finally able to give it a go!
When we walked in, the gentleman behind the counter was chatting with someone waiting for a carryout order. We weren't acknowledged with any sort of greeting, and even when we were finally seated, he had continued his conversation the whole time; pausing only to quickly get our drink orders. After the drinks were brought out, a lady came to take our order. She was very helpful in getting just some rice noodles and chicken with teriyaki for the little one, followed by fried rice for the older one, curry for the wife, and a seafood hot pot and a spring roll as an appetizer for me.
After ordering, I took note of how frequently the phone rang. People were coming in to pick up their food for takeout one right after another. They were taking orders left and right, letting them know it would be ready in 20. This has to be some good food with that many coming in, right? Unfortunately, I'll never find out.
After about 20 minutes we were told our food was almost done, and about 10 minutes later, the spring roll finally came out. At that time I asked how much longer for the food, as the amount of time taken was getting ridiculous; the answer again was that it was almost done. Five minutes later the noodles were brought out with no chicken, followed by the curry a few minutes later. At this point, we give the older son some of the younger's noodles along with some rice and curry. Then a few minutes later, the hot pot came out. Again I asked how much longer for the fried rice, and that the wait was ridiculous, and the waiter responded that everything is made fresh, which is why it took so long and that it would be soon. My wife and I sat there waiting for the oldest's food and after a while the waitress came by again, and asked what he had ordered... it had been over 45 minutes of waiting and they didn't know what he had.
The waiter finally brought out the oldest's fried rice, and I again mentioned the wait time was excessive. He again pointed out the freshness, to which I replied that another couple that came in 15 minutes after us had received their food 10 minutes prior, he stood silent for a few seconds gathering his thoughts. My wife then mentioned all of the carryout orders flying out the door, and he began stating that the orders go out in the order they are received, which I stated was a lie proven by the couple behind us. All the while I had began prepping to eat, wishing he would just STFU and go away, but he kept at it. Finally, I stood up and said that since he just wants to argue that we are going to leave, he said he had been trying to take care of the problem. I told the family we'd just head down to Stoplight for some burgers, and the waiter responded it would be another 30 minutes to get food. I went to the register to pay for what we'd eaten, and was told they wouldn't take my money. Good.
In conclusion, act like you care about the people dining in your establishment, not just the carryout orders. If you screw up and take 45 minutes to get out an order, offer a discount, a free meal, or just apologize for the wait at the very least and leave it at that... don't make excuses, lie, and argue! Unfortunately, I am unable to comment on the quality of food, as not a bite was taken by anyone other than the kids. If you want to try Thai Rama, order carryout, it's where their priorities lie. Contrary to our servers prediction, it took 25 minutes total to drive to Stoplight,...
Read moreI usually have a great experience at this restaurant, taking out or dining in. I placed my order and picked it up. I quickly realized I paid more than expected. The prices online and the receipt provided were different. I brought this to the employees attention and they stated they were updated this year, 6 months ago, and were not updated online. I also noticed the prices on the menu up charge for beef for my specific dish. Which is different from online, again, as the dish I ordered came with beef already.
I brought the food home to realize the containers were not all the way full. In the past, the containers were always full to the top.
I have ordered in the past and the description of the dish online differs from what is ordered on many occasions. In one of the dishes, string mushrooms was stated to be in it. Regular mushrooms were in the dish. On past occasions, some ingredients were missing such as baby corns. I know I am nitpicking at this point, but I believe the customer should know exactly what they are eating, at the exact price.
On the other hand, food is always delicious from here. I will no longer be spending my money at this establishment due to the additional charges and difference in what is ordered...
Read moreWho would have ever guessed that Crystal City, MO would have some of the best Thai food that I've ever eaten at. I’ve eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants in the US and Thai Rama in Crystal City, MO is my favorite. Whenever I travel to visit my customers in the area, I always stop into Thai Rama. If I’m in the area for multiple days, all of my lunches are always at Thai Rama. In fact, I usually get the same dish every time I stop in. Whenever I take my coworkers here for lunch, they always have their mind blown by how good the food is. You can get 5 levels of spiciness to each dish. However, there are an extra 2 levels above this that are Thai level spicness. If you want to be sweating through your shirt, then absolutely try it. I personally am not a fan of tofu but the fried tofu at Thai Rama is different and better to the point that I usually get that as an appetizer. The Thai beef jerky appetizer is something unique that I’ve never seen before and is something that needs to be tried if you ever have the chance. The Yellow Curry Noodle Soup is the star. There is some sort of pickled vegetable that they add to it that just ups the flavor and gives the dish that little...
