DUKE'S BAR & GRILL — Restaurant in Riverside

I've been going to Dukes for a while now and honestly it's a hit & miss now. It can be a LIT spot depending on the day you go. It's pretty spacious with 2 outdoor patios one which has a dj and dance floor for nite life club scene & 2 separate bar rooms inside, one which has karaoke. When I first started going it was actually pretty cool & chill, good crowd, good food and good music for those into mostly hip hop with a mixture of Spanish/reggaeton music. But after a while it seemed they tried to minimize the hip hop goers or "African Americans" I shall say. One nite it seemed the dj was taunting my party by continuously playing Spanish music and looking at us as if to see our reaction to him not playing hip hop music. But to his surprise although we look African American our nationality is of Hispanic decent and he was actually playing spanish music we listen to and are familiar with and when he saw we were dancing and enjoying ourselves he got upset and then began playing hip hop music, which seemed just a bit of a racial issue to me. The last few times I've gone to Dukes I have experienced the same as the nite I felt taunted. However, I went this past weekend and it was live. I never been to that place but I live just right down the street from it. I just moved here so I was looking for a nice place to maybe have a late night dream. Listen to music maybe even have a late snack upon arriving I handed my ID to the security guard. He took it and gave it to the other suggesting I was on the wrong side. I didn’t know nothing, then when I approach the ATM was not working so I asked the question to the receptionist at the front where there were three security guards I said do you Take tap because your ATM is not working she said yes I also asked her. What time do you guys close? She said one 2 o’clock it was like 11 30 12:00 With a smile, I don’t know about anyone else I asked her was there. Is it still the $15 coverage or is there a discount she said? The price is gonna go up at 11:30 so you need to hear it I was like wow not displayed anywhere she said yeah but I have the right to put it whenever I want to security guard stood up uncomfortably close to me I just wanted to ask a question but that was not I show no aggression. I recently had a disappointing experience at Duke's Bar and Grill in Riverside that I feel compelled to share. If I could give them a zero, I would. My group and I never even made it past the security due to our encounter with the owner, Noel, who was acting as the hostess and collecting the entry fee.

We arrived around 11 PM, fully aware of the posted cover charge of $15 after 9 PM. However, we didn't have cash on hand and noticed that the ATM was out of order. When we brought this to Noel's attention, she bluntly stated that the price would increase at 11:30 PM and insisted she could change the price at her discretion, disregarding the signage. This was incredibly frustrating and felt like a clear case of false advertising.

To make matters worse, the security staff, who were men in black working for an outside company, became aggressive and began yelling at us, which was completely unacceptable. The owner never intervened to address their behavior or to remind them of the basic respect owed to women in any business setting. This lack of professionalism and courtesy from both the owner and the security staff left a very negative impression, and I would not recommend this establishment based on...
