So let me start off by saying that I pass this establishment every day during the week. Seeing their window advertisements every day, about delicious tacos and burrito's on sale, different days of the week. Eventually wore on me, and I decided to take advantage of the special of the day, burritos for about $4.50, plus a $1.00 to make it wet. As I entered the establishment, for the first time mind you. I was "greeted" by the curly haired individual depicted in the first picture, above the review for this establishment. Initially, I was like "OK cool, a burrito joint, a lot of overweight customers, it must be good." I was wrong to say the least. Back to my experience, after receiving not a "hello", but "sit anywhere", from the individual mentioned above. I approached the counter, which is also depicted in the referenced picture. The individual turned out to be a waitress, whom, when I got within earshot, she turned to the customer she was talking with. And muttered under her breath "or not" (in reference to me taking a seat), while rolling her eyes, and exhaling at the customer. This initial experience, along with the two signs on their wall, "be nice or get out" and "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone", should of been my cue to leave. Assuming that they could just treat customers like trash, and if they complain, they can simply ask them to leave. Once again, just an assumption. Being hungry, I let this experience slide and did not say a thing. I proceeded to order two wet burritos, one green and one red. Took a seat and waited. A good time passed, with no interaction from the servers. Eventually, some random individual, informs me that my food has been ready for some time, and was sitting on the counter. It wasn't brought to me, which was fine, but I wasn't alerted to the fact that it was done either. It simply sat there until, they were tired of looking at it, and then they said it was ready. Very, very disrespectful and reflects poor standards. The whole place is the size of a small apartment, and contained 6 guests at most. Did they simply forget the only Caucasian, male? Or was it something else? Ill let you decide. Upon arriving home, I divided the burritos among my spouse and myself. She literally took one bite of the green burrito, and spit it out. Her complaint was, the green sauce was terrible, which it was. Also, the chicken was bland and slimy, and it was. (she enjoys burritos with green sauce, from other establishments). My burrito (red), was also quite disgusting and initially slimy. Once I reached the middle of it, due to hunger and costing around $6 dollars, it became exceedingly dry and unbearable. Sadly the best thing, was the complimentary chips and salsa, included in the bag. I tried to provide a vivid experience, so you can see what I saw, and possibly feel the tension. I am a combat veteran, and a student working on a B.A. I will never eat, and or recommend this establishment to any of my peers. Id rather have a meaningless experience, going through a drive through, than eating at this mom and pop...
Read moreMy party of 5 walked into the restaurant and where immediately greeted by Maria (owner) who’s friendliness made us feel like family. After she took our drink and food order she brought chips and salsa. Let me tell you the chips and salsa have to be the best I’ve had in the area. Salsa has great flavor and the chips are seasoned well that it compliments the salsa! Maria surprised our table with a complimentary order of nachos. Not pictured…cause they were SO good! Highlight of the nachos was the use of the enchilada sauce. My wife ordered the combination plate with one chicken crispy taco, beef tamale and cheese enchilada, I ordered the beef crispy taco, chile relleno, and the beef tamale. My mother in law ordered the taquitos with a salad, father in law ordered the menudo. All pictured. You can tell these dishes are made with love and detail to flavor. I’m not a fan of restaurant enchilada sauce but this one hit the spot that reminded me of my mom’s cooking, as well as the chile relleno! The tamale had a good meat to corn ratio unlike other places. The favor of the crispy beef taco was mouthwatering delicious! Will definitely get them again! You can definitely tell the chef know what he’s doing in the kitchen with his detail to flavors and his style of cooking. Highly...
