Bruster's Real Ice Cream — Restaurant in Riverview

7/19/25 The ice cream tastes great. I've been here twice. First time they gave me the wrong ice cream, I thought ok, maybe they were out, no big deal. (Could be if you have allergies, ordered online and picked up at store) This time (ordered through website and picked up at store), I ordered 2 strawberry shortcakes, and there was no short cakes in either of them....So, it was essentially 2 scoops with strawberry topping, So, I was over charged. The girl that finally asked if I had an order was friendly, but I stood at the pickup window and watched people stare at me and walk by and just smile at me. Two girls were fixing their hair and replacing hair nets, with gloves on, not replacing the gloves after they were done. I doubt I'll be back, which makes me sad, because it's so close to work when we need a sweet treat after a stressful day and the ice cream is really good.

Update 7/20/25 Zain called me this morning to get more information and explain the problems were addressed. He apologized and was very professional. Told me to come in and he'd give me a treat on him. I was able to make it back in in the evening and Zain was still there. Apologized again and hooked me up!!! Cal, also came out to apologize, and talk to me some. Both great individuals, and it's nice to know they want their business to strive in the downriver area! I upgraded from 2 stars to 5 stars! The ice cream here is delicious, and the staff are always kind and friendly. Since the shop is new, they’re still working through some growing pains. The order and pickup area is awkward—if there are more than five or six people, there’s really nowhere to stand or wait comfortably. The entrance is just an open gated area where people also wait for their orders, which makes it tricky to even get to the window if the area is crowded. Better signage or a roped-off line would help a lot.

Each time I’ve visited with my family, we’ve waited over 20 minutes for just a couple of scoops, even with only a few people ahead of us. My kids finished their cones before I even got mine! On all three visits, our orders were also incorrect, which meant extra waiting.

Third time there. First time was good experience, tasted multiple flavors before deciding on one which was delicious but the service was kinda slow, chalked it up to being new. Second time was a larger order with more people, computer kept messing up so we were given a discount and service was slow and appeared disorganized. Third time, asked to taste a flavor and a couple that came after me got their taste first. Service was slow, lots of people talking and looking like they need training. Husband got his ice cream first and when they finally got mine they were walking around with it like they didn't know what to do with it.
