We visited Chef’s House to celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary, and left feeling like we had discovered something truly special.
The evening is limited to just 20 guests, which creates an intimate, dinner-party feel—except your host happens to be Chef Sage, crafting a multi-course, ever-changing menu with the help of his talented sons. This isn’t just dinner—it’s an immersive conversation about food, flavor, and where it all comes from. With each course, they shared stories of ingredients, sourcing, and inspiration, grounding the meal in a thoughtful, farm-to-table philosophy that’s as heartfelt as it is delicious.
The fact that the menu changes daily only adds to the magic. Each course felt like a surprise and a gift—beautifully plated, seasonally focused, and bursting with intention. You’re not choosing from a menu here; you’re placing your trust in the hands of a chef who genuinely knows how to take you on a culinary adventure.
We’ve always heard Roanoke described as the "unique dining capital of Texas," but honestly, it felt more like marketing fluff—until now. Chef’s House has planted the flag and set a new standard. This is what that title should mean: artistry without pretense, hospitality that feels personal, and a dining experience you’ll be talking about for a long time.
This is a rare gem, and we feel lucky to have found it. We’ll absolutely be back—though next time, we might bring friends... if we’re willing to...
Read moreWhat an experience! Chef Sage and his team are wonderful and we really enjoyed having Christmas Eve dinner at Chef's House. Chef took the time to visit our table, walking us through each dish, explaining the nuances, and ensuring we were all having a great time (which no doubt we were!)
The meal opened with an interesting cleansing shot that was invigorating and bursting with clean and fresh flavors.
From there, it was a divine bisque (perfect for the weather), with lobster and crab. I think this was my favorite dish of the evening.
Salad was next, with fresh arugula, radicchio, topped with a bit of goat cheese and a berry-infused dressing. The zest of the arugula played off perfectly with the dressing and made for a very refreshing dish.
Entree was a perfectly-cooked beef filet, with polenta. Seasoning was in perfect balance, the dish had complete harmony.
Dessert was a wonderful creme brulee, topped with fresh raspberries, accompanied by a very flavorful cup of Ethiopian coffee (interestingly topped with a drop of olive oil)
Five stars all the way around for Chef's House. Go at your earliest chance and experience real food prepared...
Read moreChefs House is a gem in Roanoke. Staff is amazing, food is fantastic and the experience is personal, authentic and you feel like you are eating with family. Two seatings for dinner, 6 and 8 with only 20 guests per seating and you need reservations unless you are willing to gamble that an opening will be available. This is an old home converted into a restaurant and it is small and charming. A side room can accommodate up to 8 and the rest of the restaurant has 4 tops. There is a lunch service but I believe only 10-12 in total are accommodated. Menu changes each day but in general you start with a bread tray, then salad, appetizer, entree and dessert. Herbs and vegetables are grown onsite. Each course is described by the chef and then delivered. One of the best meals I've recently experienced. BYOB so be sure to bring your favorite beverage. You will not be disappointed if you choose to have a special occasion here. Call ahead for any dietary restriction information as the menu is fixed. You sit down and are graciously served. Absolutely fantastic. Thanks for making my birthday...
