I had to wait a few days to write this so it was out of honesty NOT anger. I want to start out by saying my family & I love the food and up until Monday always had a pleasant experience. That being said, I have been in the service industry for 20+ years and have NEVER been so offended at a restaurant!!!! Maybe it was because my adult children are covered in tattoos or the fact that my mom (handicapped) has blue hair and was on a motorized wheel chair, whatever the reason was there IS NO EXCUSE for RUDE service!!!! The restaurant was steady (not busy) and everyone but our sever was cheerful and pleasant but our waitress was DOWN RIGHT RUDE! Very unattentive, had to ask 3 times for coffee creamer, another server (after being ignored twice) for chocolate milk. Never asked how our food was or if we needed anything THEN, MY FINAL STRAW.... She gave us the wrong bill... It was less than HALF of what mine was and I could have paid it and left. However, IM NOT THAT PERSON so after 3 times of me trying to get her attention my mom (blue hair and wheel chair) said "Hon?" and the server snapped back "what do you need?" 😳 So my mother told her she gave us the wrong check and she switched them. Seriously, times are hard on everyone but if you have to be mean yoi shouldn't be a waitress. She would have gotten a $20 as that's what I've been doing during the pandemic However I think my tattooed misfits left her a few bucks because I was beyond disgusted and had to get my mother out of there by that point. SHAME ON YOU! Never judge a book by its cover. 4 out of 5 of us at that table work for tips... That is NOT how you make them. Not sure if...
Read moreExtremely high priced for what you receive, cost me $50 for 2 omelettes a coffee and a small milk. I ask for a large and was told they only do smalls and give refills, yet they charged me for a refill full price. Service was leaning recist, we are African American, and as soon as we sat down and ordered our overly priced drinks, we were offered hot sauce, without even seeing what we were ordering, yet when 7 other groups of people were seated and ordered, all white I might add, and 3 groups were waited on by the same waitress, not one was offered hot sauce, and I know because I found it peculiar that we as black patrons were offered hot sauce, even before knowing what we intended to have. Basic black stereotyping. Then she got our orders totally wrong, then she took our silver, not to give us new silver, I guess we were expected to eat with our heads. So I had to ask the black dishwasher for silverware. Now normally I tip far more than expected or that I should, But in this case I was so very appalled at the racist feelings that were showering over me, I still felt obligated to leave some form of tip, because although the service and feelings of racism that were given us, I do believe people should be paid fairly for their work, so I left a non deserving $4 tip. I'll never again patronize this establishment, And would recommend that no one else does, especially not any African...
Read moreStopped in for lunch while shopping in the area and really liked the traditional and kitschy diner atmosphere. The menu was also chock-full of diner classics. The staff was incredibly nice and service was very quick - including how fast the food arrived after we ordered it.
So, why am I giving this place only a three star rating?
The burger!
It was super greasy and tasteless - There was a half pound of meat that apparently was not seasoned in any fashion - no salt - no pepper - no nothing that we could tell. It must have been cooked on the flat top and placed directly on the bun. Not sure what level of fat it had, but it had to be something less than 80/20 as the bun was absolutely saturated with fat and was falling apart when we picked it up! And this was withing a minute or so after it came out of the kitchen.
The only flavors we got were them mushrooms, peppers, onions, and cheese that accompanied the burger, but what if we had ordered one that did not have those?
We also tried their chicken cheesesteak, the onion rings, and their sweet potato fries. All were good for what they are. Not exceptionally good, but certainly better than the burger.
So, the great experiences with the staff and the location was marred by the not great experience of the one dish.
Since they are a breakfast and lunch place, we will try them again, and give their breakfast a try. Maybe that's...
