First and foremost, I want to start off by saying that this was my first time here & only went because me & my family of 4 wanted to try something new. Anyways let's begin the review.
SETTING: Arriving to the Asadero Rochelle Park property we were so excited due to its Mexican themed outdoor patio, it almost felt like you drove far to a Mexican ranch with all the horses, farm decor, & tractor trailers. we were so excited to see the inside & it was also really nicely decorated. They sat us down promptly & server came immediately to our table. I did notice a lot of management staff congregating in areas of the restaurant observing the tables.
DRINKS: This is where it takes a turn for the worst. so, the waiter comes up to the table and introduces himself & starts taking our order for appetizers and drinks. I inquired about $60 margarita called "mega margarita for 4" and when taking the order, he asks if I wanted the margarita fresh. I was confused at this question, so I asked him to explain, & he gave me this story how it tastes better fresh & that's how he personally & all customers order it, so I said yes give it to me fresh, mind you at no point did he mention there was an extra charge, nor the menu showed any fresh option. So, he comes out with the Margarita & ask me to take a sip & see the difference I replied to him "difference from what? there's no way for me to tell the difference unless I compare it" he then brings out a small plain glass of the "not fresh version" margarita & asked me to compare it, I told him there is no way I can compare both because the fresh one had 4 liquor mini bottles & a small corona so they're 2 different comparisons. This was already testing my patience, so I asked him "are you charging me extra or something because you're making a really big deal about the fresh version", He replies yes, the Fresh version is $15 more so now I have a $75 margarita on the table, I told him since you never mentioned an extra charge, I will need to remove this from your tip. He was shocked & said ill remove the $15 charge & that was done. something I found rude was that he came to the table & emptied out all the mini bottles claiming I needed to empty them out.
WATER: At no point was water offered. I asked a server to bring water for the table & the original waiter came immediately apologizing how he forgot. let me just say not one table had water.
APPETIZERS: We ordered the Guacamole & chips which a man with a guacamole cart came up to our table with a BIG plastic jar saying TIPS with a smiley face. I was flabbergasted w/ the tip jar; how could you ask for a tip for something we are paying for? lol the jar also had a neatly folded $5 bill insinuating to tip $5.
ENTERTAINMENT: I inquired about mariachis arrival time & they said 2pm. they didn't arrive until 2:40pm. I asked the waiter when will the mariachis start singing it's about to be 3 & he replied, "when its slow, they only sing happy birthday for free but if you would like to hear a song you would need to pay $20 per song". My blood pressure was rising, I could not believe this, so I asked another staff if it's true that the mariachis only sing for $20, & he confirmed this was true. Let me just say I been to countless Mexican restaurants & never in my life have I heard of customers paying for the restaurant's entertainment.
FOOD TIMING: so, after an hour they finally take our order for food which I found extremely odd because the restaurant wasn't busy. I put 2 and 2 together an realized they did this to make us spend more money on drinks. anyways we ordered our food and received our tacos about 25mins later.
FOOD QUALITY: simply said the meat here is bad quality, the steak tacos did not taste or look like skirt steak.
TIP: They charged us an automatic 20% tip to our bill. smh!
Conclusion: I will never in my life recommend this place. This is why uber eats & door dash are making a killing because establishments like this lack hospitality & only try to reach in customers wallet. Do yourself and favor & find...
Read moreI had the misfortune a month ago or so to take my family and related siblings to have a dining experience at this store located at Rochelle NJ. So well, the place looked charming and welcoming with its unique Mexican décor however our dining experience was awful and exaggerated too expensive. We were a small group of people of 4 adults two teenagers and a baby we were seat it outside doors which by the way looked ok since the weather was perfect to enjoy a nice time for a meal. We were not celebrating any special occasion, but my niece had just turned 15 a couple of days ago, so we had in mind asking for a small dessert or something with a candle at end of dinner. We were greeted by a female server with a welcoming sign, and to this point everything look okay so far things started to get ugly and uncomfortable when we asked a few appetizers for the table and we had no silverware and napkins at the table and then, we ordered drinks for the table my wife and sister in law asked margaritas and me and my brother in law a couple of beers, And at his moment the server never asked for what kind of margaritas the ladies wanted and she took her own choice to bring a two giant flavored margaritas to the table and I admit she asked if they wanted flavor margaritas and give us choices but never mention the size and price of them and my daughter asked for a virgin Pina colada and again server never told us about price nor size of the drink. And to this point appetizers arrived and still we did not have silver ware nor share plates to eat the food. So, we flagged a young guy to help us with the utensils time passed by like 10 minutes still no one approached at the table with our request. So finally, our server approached the table, and we let her know about the missing set ups at the table, and she made a gesture of sorry and blame her assistant. Drinks arrived at the table two giant margaritas and a big mock tail with the two beers and finally we were given utensils at almost finishing appetizers. And now we placed the order for dinner with our server and in a normal time arrived at our table but for our surprise so disappointing with food quality and taste. So I ordered three tacos which were okay but the skirt steak and shrimp for my wife was a small 6oz of skirt steak and 3 dried shrimps, the chicken for my brother in law dried and without taste and we complained about this dish to the server and she excused that she warned him that the dish was not the best in the house without any other substitution or asked for anything instead. Things were getting sour we asked for another round of drinks and someone at my group said margaritas did not taste as the first round. My daughter wanted a glass of water and after several times asked to different people of the staff was brought a bottle. And the best part of the night we made noticed to the server that our niece had just turned 15 years old, and our server surprised us with a large dessert sample platters which was never ordered and my compliments for the mariachi for signing one song and were transparent advising us their charge for the song. Finally the bill came with a 20% service included margarita each at $30 and mock tail of $17 grilled chicken on the check never taken off even we complained to the server and the dessert plater of $60 So We did not complained about the charges at that moment because we were shocked at that moment and embarrassed to be calling a manager to the table, we normally dine at local restaurants where food and service are standard and okay but a check of $600 and something more for bad service and awful food...
Read moreDO NOT COME HERE . Over priced food & HORRIBLE service . The waitress we had tonight spoke no English luckily I speak Spanish and was able to translate for my boyfriend who does not speak Spanish . I gave the waitress my order which she did not write down, she assumed she could memorize everything & she could not. First issue was the wrong appetizer. I asked for steak with plantains with pico de gallo on the side , & received shrimp with pico de gallo all over the dish . After alerting the waitress of the error it was corrected then she stopped serving us & had another waitress take over who came over with a demeanor as if she was trying to intimidate us as if we were customers from hell when in reality it was their poor service . 2nd issue I asked for the octopus meal which comes with baby potatoes. 5 minutes after placing my order the waitress comes out & says they do not have baby potatoes anymore but instead will be given mashed potatoes. Once i received my dish baby potatoes magically appeared . What was the point in telling me baby potatoes were not available? My octopus that cost $50 also came out burnt. (Manager stated all I had to do was remove the skin to enjoy the dish ) I ordered bbq wings as a substitute thinking they can’t possibly mess wings up . Boy was I wrong lol . I received bland dry bbq wings .3rd issue my boyfriend asked for the fried red snapper which the menu stated came with white rice. He received mashed potatoes & a bland dry fried red snapper that came with no sauce. Was also charged an upcharge for getting mashed potatoes that we never asked for . Manager stated he would bring out the sauce & rice that was supposed to actually come with the meal & it never came. Once receiving the bill which should have only been $100 was charged a gratuity charge of 20% as if the service was even worth that . The bill came to $129 . The manager did not once apologize for the inconvenience of what happened. He was a man of many little words ( his English was not the best ) . The atmosphere was also not the best ,it was freezing while I was sitting at the table. The bathroom had no hot water & there was an annoying bell rang when they were about to sing happy birthday to someone. If you took the time to actually read my review thank you but DO NOT BOTHER COMING HERE . This was the worst Mexican restaurant I’ve been to...
