For an establishment with mediocre food at best one would expect outstanding service but even that was sub par. We attended this dump at a time when they were not busy yet we were left abandoned at our table until someone dignified themselves to do their job and take our order. After a further eternity the food finally arrived and to my dismat it wasn't what I had ordered at all. The server that took over was very kind nevertheless I was further aggravated upon learning that the owner was at the restaurant that day. This was brought to my attention when we saw him reprimand the wrong server (the one that took out table over not the one that took the order) for the mistakes in my order. Thinking he was the manager I was waiting for him to stop at our table (food was being remade so I wasn't looking for the meal to be comped just an apology at the very least would have more than sufficed nevertheless after another eternity while the food was being remade and the time it took us to eat he never came to the table. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't have paid much attention to that detail and would have assumed he was busy expect the only thing preoccupying him was flirting with a hostess in plain sight from our table. Finally I as the PAYING and very displeased customer had to ask the server to get the "manager" over and to my dismay I come to find out he's not the manager he was in fact the careless owner of this lousy establishment. Needless to say I will not be returning to this place and those poor souls willing to give it a chance I advice you really lower your expectations and eat something prior to avoid starving at one of...
Read moreI was excited to try this new restaurant and was very impressed when we walked in by the updated ambiance. Unfortunately for someone with a food allergy, it was not a great experience. I am willing to eat anything that is ‘safe’, knowing that it isn’t an easy allergy to work around at times. I threw out a few menu items that seemed easy to modify. The kitchen said they could do the fish and chips modified. Our waitress was very nice about it and documented it on the ticket. Ordered cocktails and was very underwhelmed by both the old fashioned and Manhattan. Food came out and there were two items that often contain the allergen on my dish. Waitress checked and they ‘weren’t sure’ about ingredients, so I probably shouldn’t eat them. Red flag number one. Started to eat the fries and noticed there was seasoning salt on them… which contains the allergen 99% of the time. They took the dish back, confirmed it had the allergen and remade the fries… but just re-plated the original fish, which was now cold. I ended up just eating it because everyone else was almost done. Manager came by as this was happening and didn’t take two seconds to notice I didn’t have food while everyone else was eating. Thankfully I only ate a few of the original fries and had a mild stomach ache and not worse. Overall, a mediocre experience for a place that seemed to be an upgrade from the more bar-focused Penny Black. My husband enjoyed his dish but seeing what I went through, doesn’t...
Read moreTaking back my 1 star review. We attended a show at The Roxy a few weeks ago. We had a larger party with us. We decided to give The Corner Bar another chance. I'm grateful that we did. The service was outstanding and all the food was amazing! We had one drink that had an issue and it was corrected immediately. The best part is that our reservation had no issues. We will be going back to The Corner Bar!
My original post: My adult children have been wanting to try this place. On a Wednesday morning, I called and left a message for a reservation...as instructed by their automated system. The message said that someone would call me back to let us know if the could accommodate our party of 6....no reservations for less than 6. The day and into the night go by, no call. Late on Wednesday, I emailed them (I was polite and apologetic) explaining that it was for my son's birthday on Friday and I needed to know if they could accommodate us...one way or another...so I could make other arrangements. By late in the day on Thursday I still had not heard a thing.;..no call, no email. Thankfully, we were able to make other arrangements. 5 days later, there was still no call or email. Even a call to apologize would have been acceptable (we missed it, our scheduler was sick, system was down, etc) I am in no hurry to give them...
