Old fashioned hamburger shop with pretty good food, old style choices like egg salad sandwiches, and milkshakes. It's small, clean and nostalgic. The burger is unique. It's wide thin and cooked through but without any surface browning, so it's quite soft. The bun is sliced close to the top so the bottom heal of the bun is thicker to hold whatever is on the burger more solidly. I've been wondering for years when someone was going to do that. It just makes sense. I found the flavor of the burger to be a bit livery which I'm not very partial to, but overall it was quite good and I would definitely go back.
Update a couple of years later (2022). The burger I got this time was a little thicker and definitely did not have the slightly gamey taste it had the last time. I think the burger was even better this time than the last. The onions they put on the burger are chopped chunks. I much prefer sliced rings. How's that for some in depth details?! The staff was delightful, efficient, accurate, polite, and friendly. It appears that many of the servers are high school students. I liked the french fries a lot. They're lightly crispy and medium thickness which is my favorite style. I saw but did not try the minestrone which was the seasonal soup and it looked great.
I keep forgetting to save room for a milkshake. They also look great, but I haven't had one yet. I guess I'll have to make a point of going back as soon as possible to be able to get the full picture, because it appears to me that almost everyone who came in got...
Read moreNestled in downtown Rochester, we stumbled upon a charming restaurant located at the corner of Third Street and Main Street. Red Knapp's, a quaint hamburger joint, instantly captured our attention. We were seated at a cozy booth in the corner, surrounded by a delightful retro old-school ambiance. The establishment has a nostalgic feel with classic elements such as malts, hearty burgers, a rounded bar, and a small café setting that accommodated around 30 patrons.
The culinary experience was nothing short of spectacular. The burgers were not only delicious but also made with high-quality ingredients, and the bread was wonderfully fresh. One standout was the Cajun fries, perfectly seasoned to tantalize the taste buds. While we indulged in the delectable food, we couldn't help but imagine how a small jukebox and roller skating waitress would have cemented the vibe.
Nevertheless, our dining experience was thoroughly enjoyable. The attentive and friendly servers further elevated our visit. We are grateful for the exceptional service and look forward to returning to try their famous malt on our next visit.
Our bill came to approximately $60.72. We enjoyed two burgers, two orders of cajun fries, sprite chicken tenders, and a BLT. As a side note, the burgers are not served with fries; however, customers have the choice of selecting either regular seasoned fries or cajun fries for an extra cost. The seasoned fries are a combination of salt, pepper, butter, and garlic.
We dined in and...
Read moreStopped in here with my wife. We each ordered the turkey bacon avocado wrap from their menu board located in front of the restaurant for $10 each. We were sitting next to the cash register so wjen i asked for my bill, the waitress printed it as I was up to pay to leave. I was surprised to see how high my bill was. My bill was for $29 for the two wraps. My wife and I only had the wraps with water. They do not come with fries or a side. I asked the waitress about this charge and ppinted out the price on the front menu board. She told me that the prices on the board were not correct and the prices were on the menu. First off, when I ordered the wrap, it wasnt on the menu and only on the front board. Secondly the waitress never told us that the board prices were not accurate. She told me the board was kept up because it was retro. However, the $10 price listed for a turkey wrap is pretty much a normal price every restaurant would charge so I am not sure how they would have you believe these prices are just retro and for show. I posted pictures of the menu board so judge for yourself. A SIMPLE SOLUTION WOULD BE TO TAKE DOWN THE PRICES FROM THE BOARD AND PUT UP THE REAL PRICES SO EVERYONE CAN SEE HOW EXPENSIVE YOUR DINER FOOD REALLY IS. I do not recommend this restaurant. Their prices are extremely high for what you get and they were deceitful on their pricing. Go to one of the other restaurants in the area and get a lot more for...
