La Michoacana — Restaurant in Rockford Township

I don't know about this place anymore, used to like going there, but I'm thinking it all depends on who's waiting on you, as 2 the prices you're being charged. Went to pay, idk why I HAVE 2 use my pin # in order 2 process the payment from my card, but after them running my card thru 2X both being "denied" I WAS TICKED!! My pin # has NEVER changed on that card either. So I start digging thru my purse looking 4 cash now at this point 2 pay 4 the purchase. If they WOULD have ran the card as a "credit" there WOULDN'T have been ANY ISSUES with it. I have since used this SAME card elsewhere & NO ISSUES either!! So I'm thinking their payment processor or their equipment is messed up that they run cards w/ 4 their merchant acct?? We ONLY purchased 1 bottle of Jarritos, 2 paletas, & 1 double scoop of ice cream in a flimsy container...it COST us $16+ WOW!! Have their prices gone up THAT much too?? They didn't give me a receipt either, so I suppose that supports my theory that they DON'T want you 2 know their prices on their products either, HOW MUCH you're being charged until you go 2 pay, then your stuck having 2 pay WHATEVER the cost 4 what your getting... smh, this trip there was VERY disappointing 2 say the least, highly doubt that we'll b going back...

The shop on 3849 BROADWAY STE E Rockford IL has Horrible ice cream! Purchased a chocolate chip mint (FLAVORS NOT LABELED) in a SUGAR CONE for my daughter. It smelled like mint but taste like bug poison! Went in to let the older gentleman know and he proceeded to give me a spoon of it. WHY??? you try it Sr! I know it tastes like poison! Smh..I tried it, just to not to be rude. And yeah, it taste the same. He then proceeded to say my daughter just had enough of it. No Sr! it was only one scoop and she just had like 5 licks! He went ahead and replaced it in a CUP after we purchased a sugar cone.. smh. For the price you would think you would be getting FRESH fruit, not old fruit that taste like refrigerator and fresh corn not one that taste like it's been frozen before!...

I could not be happier to have found this place. After finding out that they have expanded to three different locations in Rockford/Loves Park, I had to try them all and boy did they not disappoint! This place in particular has been a Rockford staple and the first Michoacána to open in rockford over 10 years ago! Wow. Homemade delicious ice cream with a variety of authentic Mexican flavors, seriously awesome botanas, aguas frescas are unmatched, and the sweetest service. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and it feels like you’ve transported to a paleteria in Sonora, Mexico. Love to see local businesses like...
