Good Experience at Rock Harbor Pub & Brewery
Finding parking in Rockland is tough, especially with an RV! Luckily, after checking in at the campground, they suggested I park at Pier 2 near the Light House Museum and Police Station. I was looking for a simple bite to eat and some time to walk around, so I stopped into Rock Harbor Pub & Brewery on Main Street.
The atmosphere was great, though the service was a bit slow and disorganized. It wasn’t clear who was handling customers, but no big deal—just added a bit more time to the visit. I started with the Rock Harbor French Fries and was curious to try their Rock Harbor Beer Cheese. The fries were basic, and the beer cheese wasn't what I expected—it was more of a paste than melted cheese. For my beer, I went with the Spruce Head Stout. It had strong chocolate and coffee undertones, but the balance was a bit off—the chocolate overpowered the beer a bit. It reminded me of Young’s Double Chocolate Stout from Eagle Brewery.
For my main dish, I asked the bartender for a recommendation between the tacos or another item. She suggested the Chicken Tacos, one of the most basic items on the menu. I think there was a missed opportunity to upsell, but I understand how it is being in the industry myself. The food overall was decent, and I left a good tip for the bartender on both card and cash.
All in all, it was a good experience. I’ll definitely be back!

Read moreThe waitress and service was fine. The chicken tenders were technically edible with almost equal proportion of chicken to breading and crispy like gravel. The fajita salad was neither fajitas nor salad. It was really flavorful well cooked chicken on a bed of dry lettuce with some vaguely southwestern garnish sprinkled about. Good intentions but poor execution., and execution is all that matters. On the salad the black bean and corn salsa should be the dressing. If the salsa is flavored with lime juice, toasted cumin, and coriander, and a sprinkle of chili powder ( I know this is Maine and spicy food won't sell, but don't even tell them about it like when I deny that I put black pepper on my 5 year old's porkchop), and the oil is NOT extra virgin but something more mild, you'd have a real winner. Heck you could go nuts and flame off some tequila and build your salsa up from there. Get silly I don't care it's your salad. But imagine a salsa that is black beans, corn, red onion and a little cilantro, soaking in a tequila lime vinaigrette scented with those toasted spices. Then you toss your green with the salsa, give it a good mix, the beans and corn will settle out in the mixing bowl. So you can make them visible on plating. Now you can build yourself a funkin salad; put your chicken on top sprinkle it with cotija cheese and a streak of cilantro lime sour cream. Bing Bang Bong Home run Food cost and labor are unaffected. And add a $75 up charge for any Canadian slappy that wants the dressing...
Read moreI never write reviews due to the fact that you are always going to get some good and some bad experiences, but this one I could not let slide. My family and I (with a 2 yr old) walked in around 1 pm on a Sunday and the place was empty. We sat down immediately and ordered drinks, of which they were out of 3 of the 5 beers they brew in house. I ordered a bottled beer and they served me a room temperature bottle, when I asked for a cold one, the waitress said "oh, I thought that was the cold one". By the time she had brought the other beer out we were ready to order. We all ordered simple dishes (Mac -n-cheese, burgers, and fish-n-chips). We then proceed to wait 45 mins for our food (keep in mind the place was not busy) and my fish-n-chips were fried to a crisp... a non edible crisp. I questioned the dish and the waitress made up a story about its the type of oil they use. I left it at that and told her I do not want it anymore and we didn't have enough time to wait for a new one to be made. The rest of my family finished their meals, and as we were leaving I noticed a nice looking light golden brown fish-n-chips being served to the table next to us. After seeing that i had to comment on this. Oh....and they did not comp my dish. Never again at...
