It's a shame how badly managed this restaurant has become. These days they don't seem to have a manager on weeknights and are also understaffed. I placed an online order which estimated it being ready in 20-30 minutes. After over an hour, I finally got my order. I could see a large single party in the restaurant but they even made another online order before mine. I know because at first they tried to give that order to me so I saw that it had been ordered 30 minutes after mine. I asked the waitress to have a manager call me and I complained to Menufy their online order venue. The mgmt told menufy that they had no intention of refunding any of my money. I order from this restaurant weekly but will now take my business elsewhere. Their food is average and if this is how they want to treat a regular customer then it really isn't worth it.
Per your request for more info it was an online order April 24 at 7:10 pm. For $43.46. By the time I left your restaurant, it was 8:15 pm which Menufy can verify thats when I called them. I’m not making any of this up. The other woman’s online order ticket had a timestamp of being placed at 7:37 pm and she got her three dishes before I got my order of four dishes even though my order was placed 27 minutes before hers. Im sure you can check all of this thru your online order history. You can also check that I ordered from your restaurant about 3 or 4 times a month for at least the last 5 years and during that entire time you’ve compensated me once $10 for an order taking an hour only after I complained and that wasn’t much of a gesture. That time and this time isn’t the first time it has taken 45 minutes or an hour to get my order. You used to have a very nice night manager and when the wait was longer she would chat and offer a beverage and at least apologize and thank me for waiting so I didn’t complain or request a comp or refund. That seems to be nonexistent now. At the very least I should have been called by a manager as I requested and more appropriately comped the entire bill for this order that quite frankly was completely messed up in how it was handled. Orders get delayed or messed up—I know that but it’s how a restaurant chooses to treat the customer that makes a difference as to whether or not to come back. In this case I deserved an...
Read moreI am quickly becoming a regular customer at Farmsook Thai Kitchen. As a vegan, ordering meals cannot be easier. Additionally, the employees welcome me so warmly every time I visit which really motivates you to come back and support them.
Farmsook is near my workplace and close to my gym. I often snag their lunch deal which is includes an entree and spring roll for $12. They have quite a few entrees to choose from and all but their curry can be made vegan. My go-to is the Pad Ka Pow Gai Sub because it is spicy. I also love how the tofu is minced giving it a unique texture. Make sure to request it vegan if you are avoiding animal products in the sauce. They will gladly accommodate that.
When I visit after the gym I indulge on a drink and the Drunken Noodles with tofu made vegan. The Muay Thai IPA is my favorite beer to order. Their cocktails are stunning with beautiful colors and garnishes. I highly recommend exploring their cocktail menu which also has a lot of virgin options.
The Drunken Noodles are my most commonly ordered meal. The portion size is enough for me to have leftovers for lunch. I like that the sauce is a mixture of sweet and spicy. The tofu pieces are HUGE and there is the perfect balance of noodles with peppers, onions, and tomatoes.
The restaurant space is large and can easily accommodate a large group as well as be the perfect spot for a date night or family dinner. They do have highchairs so I am eager to take my little one with me soon. Again, the employees are so friendly and that is my main reason for coming back again and again. There are plenty of places in Montgomery County with good food, but I dare you to find a business with better servers and...
Read moreAtmosphere/setting was gorgeous. Lighting set a classy mood. Plenty of natural lighting streaming in from large windows. The giant mural spanning the whole back wall was of high quality.
Pad Kee Mao was delicious, though I am not the most fluent in Thai food. My coworker who is more knowledgeable says it is too sweet.
I ordered "spicy basil fried rice with beef" to-go for my wife. We abstain from pork due to religious reasons, so I specifically asked for beef. I was charged the price for beef, and it shows beef on the receipt, but the item I received did not contain beef, and we could not tell if it was pork or chicken.
I would say that it was a good move to advertise 50% off on the grand opening, except that it seems their staff was not able to handle the amount of clients that came in. The table next to ours waited 30 minutes for their food. Our table finished eating and had to wait an extra 20 minutes before my to-go order showed up. The woman who dropped it off at the table didn't say a single word and looked angry about something. She did manage to wish us "good day" as we left, but she could at least try to smile more. If this is her attitude on the first day then I'd say she'd better buckle down, because it's going to be a long ride.
Overall, this place has some room for improvement, but they also have lots of potential. The flavors of the dishes were great and they definitely have an eye for presentation. From the food, to the drinks, to lighting, and decor. However, their hospitality could be better polished and it would have been nice if we got the beef we ordered for in the to-go item. Looking forward to how Farmsook Happiness continues to grow...
