I really wanted to like this place, and I half did. The 3 stars is from the taste, don't get me wrong, all of the meat was cooked properly and nothing was overcooked and I thoroughly enjoyed it but there were definitely some issues with the taste of the food.
To start off I will say that I enjoyed the shrimp toast, it looked like it was burned but didn't taste that way. It was a heaping portion and was greasy like typical places so I placed it on a few paper towels.
I also liked the Mongolian beef. But there was just maybe 15 strips of beef and 70% of the dish was just vegetables and for $16 it's just not worth the price.
As for the lemon chicken, it was a thin chicken breast breaded and sliced into pieces and served on top of a bed of lettuce. I did order carryout and requested no lettuce and they did not do that and did refund it. On top of that I don't recommend the lemon chicken as the lemon sauce was very runny and did not have enough flavor.
I tried the combination fried rice and it was let down. It included five pieces of shrimp and very tiny pieces of chicken and pork. The rice was also yellow Spanish rice which doesn't make any sense. The rice also had no flavor so I definitely don't recommend the fried rice.
Overall this place isn't that bad but I don't recommend trying the lemon chicken or the combination fried rice. The mom's going beef was really good but for the amount of beef you get it's just not worth it. If you like shrimp toast I do recommend this place to try it.
ā ļø for food allergies, some of the dishes are served on lettuce!
Since my favorite thing is fried rice I would say that I wouldn't return here again because it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a disappointment! Over the years Iāve heard that their cheesesteaks were pretty good so I broke my Keto diet and trued them out. I have to preface this review by saying Iām a Philly guy through and through, and Iāve eaten my share of CS to be an expert on the subject. I get that some people like Cheese Wiz 𤮠while others like lettuce, tomato, and mayo š¤®š¤®š¤® All that being said, the core of the sandwich has to be perfect. First, as other reviewers have said, plan on take out unless you donāt mind the woman behind the counter literally yelling in a mic to the people in back making the food. And because itās a tiny place itās not like you can move to the back. I took the food to go and drove fast as hell down Rockville Pike to get home and dig in. I ordered a large CS with American Cheese and shrooms. Pretty basic right? When I unwrapped the CS, the whole thing looked and felt as if it had been through a fight with a can of WD40 and a gallon of cheese. You donāt have to be from Philly to know it ALL starts with the bread. Well not in this case. Iām sure tge bread started its life just great but went down a dark road. I couldnāt even cut it with a knife because it was soaking in cheese. But WAIT, thereās more. I think the cap on the salt shaker fell off while making my sandwich because there was SO much salt it was shocking. What a total waste of carbs. I will give them a bone and say the fries...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent in yesterday and ordered a half cold cut sub without bologna and replace with turkey for take out. Who puts bologna on a cold cut sub??? I cannot stand the taste of bologna!!! Confirmed multiple times with lady out front who was busy and yelling at kitchen staff and paid for a sub with ham, salami and turkey with cheese and everything on the half sub with oil/vinegar on the side so my sub roll would not get soggy and confirmed with her several times and she wrote it on the order ticket. Lady told me it was turkey, ham, salami and cheese with everything on it with oil/vinegar on the side. Took it back to the office to eat and....guess what???! 2 pieces of NASTY thick sliced bologna, 1 and a half piece of thin sliced turkey and NO ham or salami and the oil/vinegar on the side was a tiny tub of about a capful of white vinegar! No oil!?? I will NEVER return or recommend this...
