Amazing Experience at Flock and Herd Gastropub

I recently dined at Flock and Herd Gastropub and had an outstanding experience. I started with a draft beer recommended by Scott, one of the bartenders: the Black Hog Brewing Granola Brown Ale and Maine Lunch IPA—both incredibly fresh and tasty.

For the appetizer, I had the Roasted Golden Beets with ricotta cheese and honey glaze. The combination of flavors was amazing and could easily double as a dessert—it was good!

For the main course, I went with the Herd Double Smash Burger, and it was a perfect choice. Juicy and cooked just the way I like, topped with sautéed onions, melted cheeses, and their "magic sauce"—this was hands down the best burger I’ve ever had. I shared it with a friend who ordered the Swiss Shroom Burger with blue cheese crumbles, which was also delicious, but I have to say, mine was better!

The atmosphere was wonderful, and the food was phenomenal. A big thank you to Scott and Sebby (the bartenders) for your recommendations and great conversation. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for excellent food...

We ended up here on the opening day at 8pm STARVING. We were a party of 12 people that just came from a family members wake and we had been to 2 other locations prior to this. The first was rude and didn’t even ask for our orders until we were about to leave and the 2nd had the kitchen closing in 10 minutes. In desperation we walked in without much hope only to be met by the nicest hosts. They said they could absolutely accommodate us. We were sat right away, they had 2 servers come over so orders were taken quickly, our drinks arrived fast and apps right behind them. Our meals were out within 20 minutes and we were SO thankful as we were ravenous. I had the pork belly banh mi and it was so tender and moist and delicious! My husband had the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was so flavorful and crisp. The burnt ends were also a great app that were surprisingly pretty spicy! I LOVED the lychee peachy drink and my husband the one with coconut water (forgot the name). The entire experience helped turn our night around and we WILL be back. If Google allowed half-star ratings, I would give this experience a 3.5, but since that’s not possible, I’ll have to go with a 3 for now. We recently visited the restaurant and ordered takeout, trying the honey Sriracha wings, calamari, and grilled chicken burger. The food itself was really delicious and clearly made with care, but unfortunately, the service didn’t quite match up this time.

We waited for our order, and it seemed like the staff forgot we were there. After a while, we had to ask about our food. By the time we got home, it was cold, which took away from the full enjoyment of what could have been a fantastic meal.

That said, we understand the restaurant is newly opened, and there are always challenges to work out in the early days. We’re happy to give them another try and will definitely update our review after our next visit. We’re confident that with a bit more attentiveness to takeout orders and a smoother process, this place has great potential. We’re looking forward to seeing how they...
