I used this location for catering. I am in the Raleigh area but my family is in Roanoke Rapids so this was the right location to pick up the catering order on the way to my family function in Roanoke Rapids. While I was there picking up the order I received out of this world, outstanding customer service. The cashier was so friendly and kind. She was also the person who brought the food out to my car to help me load it. I hate I didn't get her name but she was great. If it helps to identify her, she was working the front cash register on Saturday, January 6th at 130p. Also, I had an interaction with a Mr. Jones who I think may have been in leadership. This young man was SO WONDERFUL! He assisted with a simple request but he went way above and beyond to make a customer happy and satisfied. Once I got to my location in Roanoke Rapids, I realized that part of the order was missing (it happens). Luckily, I had ordered too much food so we had more than enough to feed us even with the missing items. Several hours later I called the store to speak to a manager about the missing items. The manager I spoke with was Ms.Williams. She was SO very kind and showed great customer service. She apologized to me several times and insisted she would make it right. Three days later when I went to the store to pickup my missing items, Ms Williams was there. Again, she was so kind and provided outstanding customer service with another apology and eagerness to go above and beyond to make it right. Mr. Jones was also in the store as well and as friendly as ever.Thank you to this team. Having this kind of customer service in today's world is a wonderful thing....
Read moreDuring my 19-HOUR drive from Philly to South FL on Sat., I had to make a pit stop in Rocky Mount, NC, for some quintessential Carolina BBQ. As the self-proclaimed "Professor" of mindful eating, I must say Smithfield's exceeded expectations! Naturally, to sustain me for such a long trek south, I went with the large BBQ platter, with hush puppies and 2 sides. And, iced tea to wash it down, of course! The generous portion of pulled pork BBQ was hot, juicy, very fresh, with the wonderful flavors and aroma of that tangy, vinegar-based, Eastern Carolina style sauce. The hush puppies were also right out of the fryer and cooked to perfection (crispy, fried outside & soft, doughy inside). The slaw, too, was very fresh, crunchy, with a nice light, tangy sauce. And, finally, the slightly sweet, chunky, mustard-based potato salad stole the show! Unique, delicious recipe I've never tasted before. Almost dessert-like. Can't wait to stop here again on the way back. And, the service was very friendly & authentic, too. Highly recommend for anyone craving BBQ in the Carolina...
Read moreI grew up in NC and went to college here, but somehow I missed this memo! Finally made it in and was tooo impressed! I got a plate which only has 2! pieces of chicken (tear!) It was nice and fresh nonetheless. And the young man who took our to go order was great and attentive. Soooo I went back, less than a week later. The food was good but...... This time there was waayyy too much breaden on my chicken. (I got the 4 piece box this time. Which comes with plenty of fries. The plate does not. You might want to add another side of fries, if you're a fries person - like my son!) And I got a side of cole slaw of which I found to be very (sugary) sweet...
With only 2 visits under my belt, I won't say I was disappointed... But I do intend to ask the manager for some chicken to go with this breaden (see picture) the next time I visit.
Just let them know how you want it- no breaden or once breaded.. and they'll make sure it's fresh fresh for you, especially if you ask.
Note: There's no turkey bbq... (at least at this...
