Update (4/27) – I was going to revise this review with a better rating since service and food quality had seemed more consistent, and a couple friendlier staff had been hired. However, recent visits changed my mind. I went twice this week for smoothie bowls, ordering ahead due to my short lunch breaks. On the first visit, I arrived shortly after the 20-min window and saw only one worker—seemingly a manager—who didn’t acknowledge me for minutes. My bowl hadn’t been started. Another employee came in but didn’t speak. A third arrived, and the manager—dealing with a smoothie issue—asked him to start my bowl. It was the kid’s second day and he was slow, understandably. The manager then "upgraded" a 20oz smoothie to 32oz by just adding ice—concerning as a diabetic. He never acknowledged or apologized for the delay. The female worker wandered, eating blueberries, and offered no help—even when they were out of ingredients. Later, blueberries mysteriously appeared from the back.
On visit #2, I arrived 30+ mins post-order. The same manager and female worker were there and again didn’t acknowledge me. The worker finally walked over to the freezer but didn’t hand me anything. After several minutes I asked if there was a system issue. She asked the manager, who pulled my ready bowl from the freezer—it had been there the whole time. I’d just stood waiting while they ignored me.
Takeaways: this location has major issues with organization, reliability, and integrity. Some workers are great, but management is the core issue. Ownership needs to step in.
*Also disappointing: SK corporate responded to my first review and asked me to submit it online with contact info, which I did—yet no one followed up.
This is the most inconsistent SK location I’ve visited. I go often, but service and product quality vary wildly. Smoothies are often poorly blended, and bowls made with freezer-burned açai. I called and asked for a refund and the girl answering said she couldn’t access card info, and I would have to come in the store for a the missing smoothie replacement. I said I hoped it would be more than that since I’m out delivery fee, service fee, and drivers tip. She said I was making it out more complicated than it should be, and she would just give her manager my name. I asked when the manager was working since I had to come in and request said smoothie and she said she didn’t know and didn’t feel comfortable giving me her name, so I could tell the manager that was who said I could come in. The manager politely enticed me to order from them since i was already there, even said hed match my online order and make my experience w Smoothie King a memorable one! I accepted, and am so glad I did! He helped me,figure out what kind of smoothie to order, and suggested to add enhancers.
