Every time I fly through Detroit Metro Airport, I make a point to stop at Atwater Brewery in Concourse D—and it’s always worth it. Whether you’ve got a layover or just need a place to relax before your flight, this spot delivers a comfortable atmosphere, great service, and a true taste of Detroit.
Despite being located inside an airport, the vibe feels more like a local brewery than a typical terminal restaurant. It’s clean, casual, and welcoming, with just enough Detroit character to remind you you’re in the Motor City.
The food is excellent—especially the burger, which is juicy, flavorful, and served hot every time I’ve ordered it. It’s exactly the kind of satisfying meal you want before a long flight. They also offer wings, sandwiches, and snacks that pair perfectly with a cold drink, all served quickly without sacrificing quality.
What really makes this place stand out is the craft beer selection. Atwater’s own brews—like Dirty Blonde, Vanilla Java Porter, and others—are available on tap. You can even get a beer flight if you want to try a few before choosing a favorite. It’s a perfect way to enjoy some locally brewed flavors without leaving the airport.
The staff is always friendly and efficient, even when the place is busy. They understand travelers are often on a tight schedule and do a great job getting food and drinks out quickly while still being personable.
Atwater Brewery at DTW is more than just an airport bar—it’s a great way to enjoy local food and drink in a relaxed setting. If you’re flying through Detroit, it’s absolutely worth a stop. I always leave feeling like I got a little something extra out of...
Read moreGreat beer, perfect service, and good food. Most of these reviews are from right when Atwater opened; I think the service is much improved now and people should give it a try. I was greeted and seated immediately and I was given the choice to have a table with an outlet. They took my drink and food order right away as well. They have 18 beers on tap (16 atwater beers, Miller light and angry orchard). I had the vanilla java porter which paired well with my breakfast. I ordered the brewers omelet and the omelet itself was really good. The sides (potatoes and toast) were cold but this is the cost of having fast airport food. The food came in under five minutes which is arguably more important than temperature. The omelet was fresh and hot. I paid right away and was out in under 30 minutes. As I looked around the restaurant was fairly crowded and everyone was being promptly served. Give them a try!
I also saw a review about overpriced drinks. I paid $6.50 for a beer which is pretty standard...
Read moreDisgusting food and rude staff. By logistics, it's a miracle of not having to rely on regulars and fake reviews that they are still in business. I only paid $24 for a rotten salad "because I ate some of it" which was about one single bite without having to pick something rotten out of it, instead of $28. Big whoopitydoodaday. As if that even allowed me to go somewhere else for sustenance? Pathetic and cheap. Save your money and buy gummy bears. Wait for some quality fast food where you can get the whole rotten salad for just $4. Oh wait, the manager offered to have it remade, but didn't have anything fresher, and airport security was skulking around, probably because they are rude to everyone and it's an upsetting experience, security just knows to hang around because they will make mother Theresa into someone upset. I guess I'm a horrible person for wanting food??? Whatever. Just disgusting, even after a year I'm very upset by my treatment and the injustice that they are even...
