Been eating here for a few years now, and generally have had good experiences and food, but not yesterday. Mid-afternoon after the lunch rush I stopped by in a great mood, and there was only two other seated tables. The bus boy literally snarled at me when bringing the chips and salsa, and the waiter gave me a dirty look, too, and then refused eye contact thereafter. Fawned over the new table next to me for like 5 minutes, but never brought my drink, plus willfully ignoring my polite waved hands and polite verbal request to bring a beverage. Just blatantly acting a jerk as if I was invisible, pretty sure I even saw him giggle after ignoring my "pardon me" and walking on by. Not until the food was brought and I said just skip the drink did the waiter acknowledge me or even make eye contact. In a slow period with literally only three tables seated in the place. I was clean, showered, polite and had previously had great experiences here, especially with an older gentleman waiter and the nice ladies who usually greet you or bring the tortillas.
I cannot prove it, and am just going on vibes that I got from the two newer staff yesterday, but I believe I was discriminated against, ignored and treated like trash because I am white. The latino couple right next to me got excellent service and the same chatty, friendly service I was used to here, but my experience was completely different. Literally two completely different customer experiences right next to each other at the same time.
I am not so much angry as sad - this was my favorite mexican place in Roseburg but I will NEVER return after being treated like garbage. Some people apparently think that treating white people like scum is an act of social justice, as they might say up in Portland. I say knock yourselves out and be as racist and discriminatory as you want in a private business. Just don't expect this white guy to ever fork over $20 for lunch in your establishment ever, ever again after you...
Read moreThis place is usually pretty good (for Roseburg standards) if you go in to dine, their drive through is slooooowww. Using Grubhub I ordered the nachos and chicken tamales. I opened my container of nachos to find what was more similar to a Mexican style lasagna, the cheese, chips and meat was a congealed mass comparable to leftovers from the fridge that had been reheated- hopefully not in the styrofoam container it came in, but probably so. Their description of nachos states that it also includes guacamole and sour cream which it did not (another tell-tale sign that this was heated together in the container in the microwave and hurriedly placed in a bag). The chips were soggy and not one single chip had a crunch to it, which is why I compare it more to lasagna than nachos. I was hopeful the meal could be salvaged by the chicken tamales but I was wrong. The tamales were sitting next to a warped looking container of sauce, again, probably put through the microwave, they were a mixture of meats I think? One of them seemed to be chicken while the other two were shredded beef and all of them were very dry and crumbling/falling apart. This meal just made me think I had gone in previously and had leftovers and then reheated all of it the next day. Like I said, their food is actually usually alright when seated in their restaurant, it seems like they’re taking liberties to be lazy about the presentation through delivery and drive through as they probably rarely hear back from customers about dissatisfaction. I was looking forward to this food but ended up very disappointed, especially considering the inflated prices for ordering...
Read moreWow! Great Mexican in Roseburg. This place is just flat out awesome. The food, drinks and customer service are all what you’d expect from a typical Tex-Mex style place, but even better. They have a drive thru! My first ever experience was when I stopped in late after driving all day on I-5. I had an interview for a job in town the following morning. So, I need some fuel to get me going for the next day. Went into Burrito Vaquero and ordered one of their enchilada dishes. The portion size was huge, and I ate every bit. Had a margarita, and boy was that thing was strong. Some little old lady brought me tortillas while I waited for my dinner. To my surprise, they were hand made. Nice touch! Overall, don’t let the gaudy paint job and tacky logo fool you. This place is really good and we are fortunate to have it right here in Roseburg. This is not your typical Mexican place. You can tell that the family who runs this place put a lot of TLC into this place. Do yourself a favor, next time your traveling north or south on I-5, take the 125 exit and check out...
