My husband and I ordered takeout from Torchy's Tacos for dinner on Friday, December 23rd and for breakfast on Saturday, December 24th while staying nearby. We have been huge fans of Torchy's on previous visits to Texas, but we were a bit disappointed with our dinner. My husband opted for one of the salads, and while he enjoyed the salad, he felt it was small for an entree and that the chicken was almost too spicy to eat (I liked the seasoning on the chicken, so this is obviously a personal preference). I had ordered a few different tacos. I ordered the kid's trailer park fried chicken taco and it was excellent. However, the fried shrimp taco and carnitas taco were not good at all. The fried shrimp were way overbattered and were stone cold. The carnitas was not really carnitas - it was just wet, bland, cold pulled pork. So, I would rate our dinner a 2 or 3 at best. We decided to get breakfast there the next morning because we were hungry and it was convenient and it was almost like dining at a different restaurant. We ordered one brisket and one steak breakfast taco each and they were excellent. I thought the brisket would be the clear winner and it was quite good, but the steak was the star as the marinade was really flavorful. I'm sure we will dine at Torchy's again based on our breakfast experience, but I would try to find a location that is higher rated than this one for hopefully warmer, higher quality...
Read moreI’ve been going to Torchy’s for over 13 years (way before they even made it to Houston) and not once have I ever been charged for extra chips. Until today.
When I asked why this location charges while others don’t, the cashier hit me with attitude and said, “they’re not complimentary,” like I was asking for something outrageous. Meanwhile, the to-go chip bags are already half-empty, so now we’re charging extra for what? Air?
And let me not forget the time they messed up my order. I told them I was on my lunch break and couldn’t come back right away. I said I’d swing by after work to pick up the corrected order. When I went to pick up the correct order, they asked if I brought the wrong order back (luckily I took a picture). As if I was trying to scam them out of a taco. Seriously?
The customer service was embarrassingly bad—condescending, careless, and a perfect example of how to lose loyal...
Read moreI ordered online and went to pick up my order. The young lady who assisted me at the drive through was actually finalizing my order as she walked to the window. I received my order and proceeded to leave but noticed I only had one bag of chips. Ion further inspection I had not received one order of hillbilly queso. I returned to the window and advised the young lady and she was not apologetic at all. In fact she requested to see the receipt off the bag which I handed to her, she takes a look and then goes just a minute. She then goes and prepares the additional dip and returns to the window and just hands it to me. No I’m sorry or customer empathy at all. Suppose I would have made it home and had to come back through traffic for something that should have been correct initially. Management please teach the young lady with the piercing on her face how to treat...
