I have been to 7' Yen Sushi many times because the sushi chef owner is so welcoming, and I like the menu offerings.
As service is at many Asian restaurants, it is attentive at the start when you are ordering but then you need to flag servers down if you want to order more food, get water, get plates cleared, or get your bill. The dishes can vary depending on the chef, but I will try to recommend the more current items and the items that I consistently like.
There is a $39.99 Dinner AYCE (90 minute limit).
The Bento Box is a great value. You get soup, salad, sunomono, rice, and your choice of 1 or 2 main items. I like the Mix Tempura, Gyoza, Jalapeno Bomb, Chicken Katsu, and Baked Mussels. You can even pick sashimi, nigiri, maki, dessert (mochi ice cream or taiyaki) as an item.
Sashimi and Nigiri: Yellowtail (Hamachi), Escolar (Ono), and Salmon are my favorite fishes. Blue Fin Tuna is offered here.
Ramen: Duck Sous Vide Ramen is offered here. The broth is simmered for 24 hours. Call ahead to make sure that duck is still available if that's what you seek. The ajitama or marinated ramen egg hasn't been consistently jammy for me.
Jalapeno Bomb is my favorite appetizer. I likely would enjoy the Soft Shell Crab appetizer given that I liked it as a topping for a now retired sushi roll.
Sushi Rolls: Order a roll with something fried, like shrimp tempura, chicken katsu (Chun Li roll), or fried onions (Thor roll).
You can order the Chef's Special Roll. Just tell the sushi chef what ingredients you like and don't like!
Skip the unagi sashimi. The agedashi tofu is just deep-fried plain tofu without bonito flakes and broth.
Kizakura Pure Sparkling Stars is a bubbly, light, and fruity sake. There is also a Nigori Mango Sake. A pro tip that I learned from a regular customer is to mix the sparkling and mango sakes, like a mimosa!
With 3 televisions and on-demand streaming services, you can watch your favorite sports team or request to watch a movie here. It's a fun place for me to chill, especially when I sit at the sushi bar.
As a new restaurant, there are growing pains, but overall, I have a good time and...
Read more2nd Update: Sept. 2024: Went back to their sushi menu, with changes. My favorite dish has been removed from the menu (curry croquettes), and my companions dish was also removed or changed. The pepper fin. They did try to try to duplicate the original version but failed. My roll was generic and not flavorful. Really disappointed Probably won't be going back. Staff still friendly. And trying to be helpful. It's a shame. UPDATE: July 2024, I am sorry to say this place has lost a star. 5th time back, and they have changed their menu. It appears they are changing gears and are leaning more to Chinese food than sushi. I ordered the Party in your Mouth roll, still good, but my dinner companion wasn't enthused with the White Dragon roll. It's just ok. Initial post: I am hesitant to say anything about this place because I like it being a quiet little hidden gem. But it deserves a shout-out! I've been 3 times now and have only been disappointed with one of 4 ribs-it was overcooked, but the other 3 were good, not what I was expecting (the picture on the menu looked like red Chinese style ribs) mine were brown but good. The first time here, I'd order the Thor roll, and it was delicious, but my sister ordered it this time, and it wasn't the same. Yes, it's sushi AND Chinese. The Party-in-Your-Mouth roll has been excellent every time, and the Pepper Fin plate is also delicious! The woman who serves is very sweet and obliging. I will definitely be back! (July 2024: I will try other...
Read moreI found hair in my food, and when I called the restaurant they said that I can bring the food back at ANYTIME after I explained that I didn’t live in the area. Mind you to get him to agree to a full refund I spent over 25+ minutes on the full explaining I shouldn’t have to experience a financial loss. When I bough the food in he said he can’t refund my order because it’s been 7 days, and had it been 2-3 days he would have. The fact that he didn’t say this over the phone and literally told me whenever when I explained I lived further out is unethical and extremely dishonest. If he would have said I needed to bring it in 2-3 days I would have made it happen, yet he didn’t and still refused to refund me. I lost $70 to a restaurant that played Christian music, quite interesting way to show your faith…horrible customer service and very uncaring owner/staff. My family would regularly order from here, and have dined in on regular basis. We will never be visiting again, and strongly suggest you avoid them as well. There’s a lot of other locations that offer better customer service and higher...
