Where to begin, this was probably the worst dinning experience I’ve ever encountered. We had a reservation for a party of 8 to celebrate my brother in law. We get seated, someone comes and drops off waters 10 minutes after sitting down. The place didn’t seem and crowded, but 30 minutes into it the waitress “Trinity” comes to take our drink order. Since we had been there a while we let her know we were ready to order. She said no I’m just taking your drink order I’ll come back later for that food order. I was so shocked and puzzled, it’s a weekday and we are ready to have dinner and head home after a long day. But “Trinity “ said no. I was so upset because I’ve never experienced anything like this, annoyed I went on a walk. But before I stepped away I asked some servers if she was gonna be our server or she was just taking our drinks, they said she was our server and that she was very busy. Again I left confused and annoyed. I saw the manager up front and told him I’ve never head anyone say “I’ll take your order later”, if a guest is ready you take their order, the manager said he wasn’t sure but he’ll “talk” to her . I even suggested changing servers but he said he’ll talk to her and I didn’t want to make it awkward so I said maybe I’m overreacting I’ll go catch some air and come back, so I did. Came back after 2 minutes , we wait again for a while for her to come back and take our order, she does and at this point it’s been around 45-50 minutes, no bread no nothing to get us started! Then she finally brings appetizers close to an hour after we had sat down, promptly after maybe 10 minutes in, I was shocked. She proceeded to bring out our food without clearing the table that had all the plates we had eaten out appetizers in, we actually were still working on it . Another coworker saw this and started helping her clear plates , this made no sense! She served me last, and gave me a nasty looking rib eye full of fat and said it was medium well. I told her my meat was Medium, she asked me would you like another pice and I said yes. She then Said “you’re not gonna talk to me like that” grabbed the plate from the table took her little side table and stomped away. I was so baffled with her reaction. “Trinity “ ruined our family night, my sons 7 and 3 were so shocked and asking why she was mad. I explained the best way I could and told them , in restaurants you serve people with kindness , respect and treat them like if they are guest at your house. Here are cattlemen Roseville, it was like you went to a family member’s house who doesn’t like you. If the manager would have heard my concern the first time I approached him this would be a completely different review. The employees and management need training, giving us a discount won’t cut it. We won’t ever return to this location. “Trinity” girl , you need to check yourself and your attitude, you’re not in high school, your at work… so maybe it’s time you go and find another profession. Cattlemen Roseville...

After a quick stop at Bass Pro Shops to grab some fishing supplies, we made a spontaneous decision to revisit Cattlemens Steakhouse—a Highway 80 Rocklin icon we hadn’t been to in over 20 years. What a pleasant surprise! This place still delivers on all fronts: incredible food, generous portions, warm hospitality, and that rustic Western charm that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a cowboy camp.
We called ahead since it was a Friday night, and the host happily added us to the waitlist. By the time we arrived 15 minutes later, the place was packed—but we were seated within two minutes. Off to a great start!
We began with a cocktail and a beer—my cocktail was just $11, which is practically unheard of these days for something so well made. The menu had plenty to offer, but we opted for the Dinner for Two ($79) special, which turned out to be a fantastic value. It included warm bread, all-you-can-eat salad, a choice of appetizer (we picked the shrimp cocktail, which came with six large, chilled shrimp), and two entrees, baked beans and dessert.
I went with the prime rib, served sizzling hot on a cast iron plate, alongside a loaded baked potato. Erik ordered the New York steak, also with a baked potato. Both steaks were cooked perfectly (medium-well) and full of flavor—Harris Ranch beef truly makes a difference.
We barely had room for dessert, but the meal included a choice of classic desserts, so our server kindly boxed it up to-go, complete with a separate container for the ice cream. We were also so full that we only made it through half of our steaks—leftovers we’re definitely looking forward to enjoying tomorrow!
Our waiter and the entire staff were outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We were so impressed we left a 25% tip without hesitation. Some nights you go in without big expectations and come out genuinely delighted—and that was exactly the case here.
Call ahead and make a reservation—and definitely add Cattlemens to your next stop if you’re craving a great steak, old-school hospitality, and a dining experience that hits all the...
Read moreThis used to be my favorite place for over 20 years, but it's been awful the last 4 times I went, so I'm changing from a 5 to 1 star review. Slow Staff, dirty, and the food quality has gotten down to "Sizzler" quality. The last visit was the worst. First we had a 6:30 Reservation, and didn't get seated to well after 7, and then 5 Adults were placed in a booth with one sitting in the isle. 2) They took forever to get the food (we were finally served after 8PM). Just to get some very grizzled steaks, and an 3) RAW hamburger. Then it took yelling to and flagging down several times to get someone to help before they came to see that the hamburger was in fact raw (not rare, and it was asked to be medium, but raw, in the 40-50 degree range and not holding form. So they take the plate, and then come back to give me my fried back. 20 Minutes later a new hamburger comes (Yes, a 6:30PM reservation is at 8:30 for one guest to be fed). And then it was just a hamburger with cheese on it, no sauce, or anything else, and of course I now had cold fries to go with it since they didn't bring new ones out.
No apologies from the staff, other than the guy who brought it back (not the same server) said, damn, that one that was brought back was really raw). But nothing, I get mistakes happen, but own up to them.
The whole time they never asked us if things were okay, never refilled drinks, never asked for refills of paid adult drinks, never brought the A1 we asked for multiple times (their standard steak sauce contains walnuts which two members of our table were allergic to, we've never had an issue asking for A1 in the past 20 years). Never brought out any condiments we asked for the Burger (again, nothing was on the burger they served it as a meat patty and a piece of cheese... that's it).
What used to be my favorite place to east out is gone, never going back again. As I said this has been the 4th visit in a row that service/food has been poor. I keep hoping that the "old" Cattlemen's would return, but it seems to be...
