My family just came home from an almost $200.00 lunch for 3 people and they had a mouthful! Let me start by saying, they are NOT complainers, at all, so I'm doing this on behalf of them. The atmosphere is this- You're SURROUNDED by cameras watching you eat and it's out in the open so there is LITERALLY no privacy or relaxing. If you do not wish to be filmed or have your children filmed, this is not the place to go. They insisted my Mom couldn't order a Bento even though she doesn't eat sushi because my daughter and Dad ordered the big buffet so go in expecting to be forced to pay big bucks for tempura and some VERY tough and awful meat you can't chew and will be charged for if you don't finish! Be prepared to be charged for anything you don't like regardless of thoughtful, unwasteful servings. My Daughter and Dad are game for all things sushi. My Dad enjoyed most of it very much and my daughter and Mom raved about the kalbi and the fried shrimp. They were there to celebrate Father's Day. My Mom usually eats tempura and teriyaki if she goes to a sushi place and on rare occasion a California roll which she did in this instance since her choices were minimal. She said the tempura was "okay" but she'd pass on anything else as it was not good. My Dad enjoyed most of the fish, hated the atmosphere and was less than thrilled about how they were treated by the server who could barely hear them and didn't care to find out if they needed anything and definitely wasn't up for questions or explanations other than "the rules". Clearly it's all about them and their bottom line and not the customer. It's not the first place with this policy that I've been to, but it's the first that you couldn't send back something that was inedible and felt stressed enough you had to consider putting it in the diaperbag to avoid being charged for it! Now here's the real and immediate problem- My Dad has been stomach sick 3x in 85 years. One was in Mexico (he drank the water lol), one was from too much dairy and today. He has a cast iron stomach and could eat garbage and week old fridge food and be fine! He grew up in Hawaii eating a ton of fish and sushi and sashimi are stables. Even food that's been left out all day he's been fine with. Gross, but true. Well, he could barely make it home! He ran inside and spent the past hour in and out of the bathroom with urgent well, you know. A freaking nightmare! I tried to call but their phone line is busy! Who has a single-line phone anymore?! They deserve a refund and a visit from the health department! For a soft opening you would think they would be best efforts forward. If this is an inkling of what the environment, food and plan, they won't be around long! If I were you, I'd run so you don't get the runs! As for us, we'll see you...
Read moreCame here with high expectations but was let down.
I don't like raw fish, so I ended up with eating cooked things.
The Udon noodles were alright. Under seasoned.
The steak hibachi was alright, but there was something "off" about the flavor. It tasted almost like the steak was cooked in a bakery. It's hard to explain.
The chicken....yeah, the chicken. It's just nasty. It has a strange rubbery consistency and is tasteless. Even the fried katsu version. It made the chicken fried rice disgusting.
The hibachi shrimp were rubbery and overcooked and lacked good flavor. They had remnants of the nasty rubber chicken flavor on them.
To finish things up we saw the fried banana and ordered that. DON'T DO THAT. Whatever was inside those fried chicken nugget things was not good. It almost tastes like a super unripe plantain. And the chocolate sauce they soaked them in tasted burnt. Made them inedible in my opinion.
Hate to say it, but the best thing I had was the cream cheese wontons.
I also echo some other reviewers' sentiment about the "one person does it, everybody does it" policy. I get it, you don't want people sharing food. At some point you have to trust most people and accept that some will share a bite here and there. But don't force everybody into an expensive choice if they don't want to.
And the whole "eat it or you pay" thing is very off-putting. I read that before we even placed our first order and wanted to leave. I was waiting on the server to try to threaten me about my pile of disgusting chicken I had built using the tasteless rubber chunks I had built topped with the inedible fried "banana" nuggets.
All in all, service was alright.
Atmosphere....it seemed clean enough and spacious.
The food is what killed this place for us. It's not good. We won't be back and won't be recommending...
Read morethis was me and my boyfriends second time visiting. our first time was okay but this time was a complete let down. we were first not acknowledged after being seated for 10+ minutes; granted we were there on a saturday night at 8 so we were okay and patient with that. but it was until after our first round of food, our waiter nor anyone else acknowledged or checked in on us at all for a proceeding 25 minutes (and honestly felt like more - mind you there is a limit of 90 minutes!) our waiter was continuously checking in on our surrounding tables and even the ones right next to us, but not us. we would see our waiter check in with “are you still doing okay” with them and then continue on, quickly moving past us not even giving us the chance to get someone’s attention. no eye contact or acknowledgement from anyone. we were sat waiting with no food. we had already chosen the most expensive option (option c) so we were left feeling like we had to order more for our moneys worth. eventually we were able to flag our waiter down for a second round but we called it there.
food wise - it is okay. we honestly really like the sushi tacos here and the sashimi was a great thick cut. i would say unless you are willing to pay more for sashimi, option c is NOT worth it. (it was $46.99 ea) we have tried multiple ayce sushi in the area and in sacramento and we have never spent more than $100 for ayce (for two), besides tonight.
the service is what killed it for us. and reading other reviews it seems like this is a reoccurring problem for others. we will not be returning, or recommending for...
