Please forgive me I do not have the names of the individuals involved with this incident. My concern was not with having someone to blame or identify persons at fault, if any. On December 20th 2022 at approximately 1:30 p.m. I had checked in to my reservations at the Fairfield Inn of Roseville Ca. ||||At the time I was under the impression that I was using my bon voyage membership and thus far was enjoying the wonderful service and the clean generously spaced room that I've often enjoyed when doing business with Marriott.||||At 3:19 p.m. I received a text message from my son stating that my strange wife was upset that I had booked a room with her account and what even furthered her anger was that I rented the room with her credit card. I was confused since of course I had used my debit card and I was almost certain I'd use my account since I used my phone number for identification. So I decided to go down to the front desk and get a copy of the receipt so I can forward that to my wife that's proof to her unfounded accusations. ||||When I arrived at the desk in the lobby there was a lady at the terminal and a gentleman coming out of a adjacent room to the rear of the desk area as I asked for a receipt. The lady looked over her shoulder to the gentleman and said something to the extent of this is the person whose wife is on the reservation. ||||They begin to tell me that because it's my wife's account she needs to be present for check in I responded that she was not present or available and I was under the impression that it was my account that I had booked the room under. Then the gentleman said to the lady that they needed to switch out credit cards on the account and again I question them about the meaning of his comment inquired what was going on. ||||The gentleman replied in a manner I can only describe as irritated and or disgusted saying that I cannot pay for the room with my wife's credit card and I have to use my own. Simultaneously I pulled out my wallet while stating I paid for the room with my debit card and I'm confused about what's going on. The gentleman told the lady to check my credit card so I handed over my debit card as well as my ID and the lady verified that the room was paid for with my debit card and it was my debit card and the gentleman replied brashley I needed to check out. ||||No even more confused and beginning to get irritated I asked the gentleman what was the problem and he replied very sternly akin to apparent chastising a child that the problem is I can either check out or he can call the authorities. At this point I was feeling attacked dismissed disrespected and beginning I think this was some type of discrimination. ||||Being that I've experienced discrimination in the past the the demeanor and the actions taken by the staff we're no different from the few times in my life right experience discrimination whether it was for how young I looked, my attire, or being biracial. ||||Making a quick assessment of my situation I do look very young for my age, I had been doing some manual labor that day so I was in labor attire I'm still biracial, and being that I am homeless at the moment it had been a couple days since I was afforded the opportunity to shave so I may have looked scruffy. So I was able to check all boxes that may explain the reason for the treatment I was being given. And mind you this is all speculative I can just go off of experience that's all I had to go on since none of my questions were being answered and I was being threatened with the police. ||||So I abandoned any attempt to try to understand what was going on and went and gathered my belongings from the room and left the hotel. Immediately I called Marriott customer service and spoke to them and was transferred to the proper department for these matters and was able to speak to a lady who was very very understanding and comprehended immediately the reasoning behind the faux pas. She quickly fix the issue with the accounts between myself and my wife and verified all my information so we didn't have this issue in the future. She also stated that she was going to contact the hotel and rebook my room and apply the already paid charge to my new reservation. After assuring me everything was taken care of I went back to the hotel. ||||Once again I approached the lady behind the desk she was very friendly and I pulled out my ID and stated I'd like to check in please and she notified me that her manager, referring to the gentleman who was threatening me with the police and being very rude earlier. Had told her to cancel my new reservation and I was not welcome to stay at the hotel any longer and would not be permitted to make any more reservations with them. I'm quite about my refund and was told that she was just about to refund it and release it and that I would have it more than likely by the next day. ||||I'd quickly explained my position that it was cold outside and I didn't want to sleep in my car again and she assured me that she was going to take care of the refund and it won't be an issue.||||I'm a 43 year old disabled combat veteran who's in the middle of a rough spot I am homeless and have had a difficult time securing a place to live due to the requirements of first last month rent security deposit etc saving moving cost is a problem since I live in hotels for the majority of the month however even the most unsavory hotel is quite pricey these days. This is why the last week and a half of every month I have to sleep in my vehicle. Being the week of Christmas end of the month this is my last $170 and I wanted to kind of get a nice night's rest get cleaned up take care of some laundry perhaps get and squared away, plus the previous four / five nights had been extremely cold and I needed a break from freezing all night. ||||In closing as of this moment 11:47 a.m. 22nd of December I've yet received my refund for the canceled stay. I've not received an apology, and it hasn't gotten any warmer on the contrary it's getting colder everyday yet the week seems to be slowing down which is making it a miserable week. Please refund my $170 so that I may continue having this week that I'm having but at least I'd have my $170 back||||Sincerely,||Spc. Charles...
Read moreOne of the worst stays in a Marriott thats under renovation/construction. There were just so many issues... dusty, loud, and none of the amenities were open.. just to name a few. I wished the app would show that the hotel was under construction during the reservation process. Instead I get an email on a later day about the construction and it was down played on how much construction was going on at the hotel.
I understand that it was under construction but it was very dusty. You walked in the hallway and it's just feels dusty. After I checked into the hotel and was looking forward to a nap after a long flight/travel. Instead I was kept awake because the workers were hammering and drilling on the floor below me. I endured it up because there was no good time (I know the work got to be done) or good way to keep the construction noise down. Then the next day, I guess the workers were staying on site. They were up around 6AM and already being loud in the hallway and getting ready for the work. In addition to the construction noise, I got a room that faces the main road. The traffic was noisy throughout the night!
Talked to the customer service rep on the second night and was told there was nothing he could have done and wanted me to talk to the rep in the morning. Talked to Jasmine the next morning, she was apologetic however the hotel was full and there was not much she could have done. The only option was to move room however I could not move the room during the time Jasmine suggested and I did not want the staff to pack/move my things. So I just sucked it up and stayed. I did ask for points for the trouble.. but I did not feel the points were even enough for the hassle I went through.
I have stayed at other Marriotts under renovation before but I did not feel like the renovation bothered me as much as this Fairfield Inn. I have stayed at other Marriotts where they staggered the renovation and work on it floor by floor where I wouldn't see the construction at all. This hotel was doing renovation on two floors where I have to walk through dusty carpets.
If the Fairfield Inn can use Courtyard's gym during renovation, they should have just worked with Courtyard and have some of the guests stay there as well so they could minimize the impact of the hotel guests.
If you need to stay in the area, I would suggest stay at a Courtyard or Residence Inn. It may be quieter. Although I think their hotel is dated. But at least it's away from...
Read moreFirst off, let me preface this review by saying the staff that I encountered were very accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. The room was clean and well stocked. What I love the most is the hot showers in the morning. Usually, less accommodating hotels skimp on items like the soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. I can't remember the brand of toiletries but it was amazing, smelled amazing, and made me happy in the morning. Big thumbs up! Breakfast was served as described. My only wish is that they offered more vegan options. I had to use the "business center" which was a computer by the front desk. Luckily every time I had to use it, there was no one there. And big plus, they let me print for free. Some places charge which is super irritating. The reason for the three stars is that I had to extend my stay which carried over through the weekend. The rate that was charged to my card was agreed to and it was a 30% increase to the normal weed day rate. Then early Sunday morning I get a call from the front desk which stated that my card was declined. I explained the situation and they said "well that charge was incorrect and you slept there so now you have to pay." I run to the bank and take care of the balance. What else was I supposed to do? When it was all said and done the weekend rate was 40% more than what was originally charged. This may not be a big deal to some but we were staying there a few days as we had just gotten evicted. I know its a bit too pricey, but I wanted to maintain some normalcy for the children and the location was in between our old home and the new storage facility. Anyways, blah blah blah, sob story, I know.... just wanted to throw that tidbit of info in there as to why this 40% increase was a HUGE deal. The stay was lovely, the overnight staff were great! They gave me coupons for restaurants nearby. I can't remember the lovely lady at the front desk. She was blonde and we swapped stories about our husbands, gas prices, and the heat. She was great and the other tall young man who wants to be a firefighter, he was super nice too! So long story short.... make sure to confirm the rates before they charge your card because they will charge you more without even discussing it with you first. I think its wrong for the customer to be penalized for their accounting error especially for recently displaced families on a budget. Oh and they charge...
