Hip, eloquent, and trendy; these are the words that come to my mind during my visit to La Popular. I’ve never been here before. First time here and was recommended by one of my staff for an evening get together with fellow co-workers. There were a total of 9 of us which warranted reservations. We came on a Monday (12/4) evening at 6pm. Not crowded with plenty of seating. Not surprising considering it’s a Monday. First impression of the place is that it’s clean, inviting, well put together with a club like ambiance with the lights dimmed down and bar at the center of the dining floor. It’s my kind of venue so it’s a solid 5/5. Our server, by the name of Ashley, was great. She was attentive and available when we needed her while allowing our group to enjoy ourselves without feeling interrupted. Service is a solid 5/5 (Nice job Ashley!). Our group ordered pitchers of their Classic Margaritas. Don’t think it was top shelf Tequila that was used hence didn’t rise to be labeled as a Cadillac but still turned out great. Very delicious and in line with other high quality margaritas that I’m used to drinking. So a 4.5/5. As for the food, our group ordered a variety from the menu. There were Chips and Salsa, Fish Tacos, Veggie Tacos, Chicken Mole Enchiladas, Enchiladas Blancas, and few others that were ordered. The food came out within 15 minutes of ordering and all turned out beautifully presented - a good 5/5 for Mexican food. Taste did not disappoint either. Around the table, all had great things to say about their own dish and how yummy it was. The only exception is that the portion size may be on the smaller end. I ordered the Fish Tacos and it was delicious; one of the best Fish Tacos I’ve had. The fixings were well balanced to not over power the fish which turned out crispy and perfectly seasoned; a well deserved 5/5 for taste. We even ordered dessert. Got two each of their Churros, Tres Leches, and Chocoflan to share. Between the three, the Churros turned out the best and is a must have. It was crispy with just enough sugar and when paired with the chocolate syrup totally knocks it out of the ball park. The other two desserts were also good but came out a tad too sweet for me. The average price of our dinner per person came to about $62/person. This is higher than expected for Mexican food. Value to price ratio a 3.5/5. Overall experience is about a 4.25/5. La Popular offers a hip and intimate dining experience. The evening ambiance with the lights dimmed down and relaxing atmosphere is very inviting, perfect for folks looking to relax to good drinks, good food, and good service. If you’re with good company can make for a wonderful experience. Our party certainly did. Portion size are smaller so will end up ordering more. Be prepared to pay a premium for the overall experience however. If price is not a concern, I definitely do highly recommend stopping by La Popular for a visit. if you find this review helpful, tap the thumbs up button below.

Went to La Popular for my birthday dinner with the family. This was our first visit to this establishment. To start, this location is directly next to Eureka, so make sure you go to the correct entrance (lol). The atmosphere is pleasant, with a good vibe and comfortable seating. We ate indoors (there is a covered outdoor area as well). To start, they serve chips and salsa that includes four different salsa varieties. Our favorite was the spiciest one and the soy based one. They were quite delicious and the heat was on point (I personally hate when restaurants claim spicy and they are not). For what it is worth, the chips are salsa are on point. The variety of salsa also provides options for everyone. For our entrees, we mostly stuck to the tacos. I had the Al pastor, others had shrimp and fish, and one had the enchiladas. My hubby also got their bean soup to try as well. Everything was served hot and quickly, I also had a side of rice and beans. Everything was delicious, I don’t really have any complaints or particular remarks. The tortillas were good, the meat and veggies, along with sauces were flavorful. That being said, was this the best taco or Mexican food, no. Was it the worst or even bad, absolutely not. The food was good, the service was good, and the atmosphere is pleasant. I generally like to reserve a 5 star rating for something that really shines in flavor and options. Overall, I would go again and the food is good. If you’re looking for a more upscale Mexican eatery this place will meet the mark.

I am from Mexico City so I had to check this place out! The salsas are amazing very authentic Mexican style so 5 stars to the salsass and chips !! Drinks are good, the mango-pina agua fresca with chile on the glasss is delicious! I love that they serve mezcal too!! I had to try the enchiladas de mole of course, good portion, 3 enchilada, tasty mole but I would definitely prefer that dish with rice on the side not beans, the beans looked more like can fried beans to me 👎 I got the bean soup too, but the flavor I did not really get the "frijoles" flavor. Service was excellent our young server did a very good job! Atmosphere: Nice inside, big outside patio and outdoors bar area! The music inside was loud and makes this place look more like a night club kind of place atmosphere. I was expecting more like a Spanish guitar type of music or Mexican Instrumental music to really have the atmosphere of a Mexican Cantina from Mexico City. *I loved the Vero mango con chile candy -paleta !!

Ate here for lunch at prime hours on a Saturday - there was no wait for the covered/heated patio and 15 minute wait for indoor seating. As many other reviewers noted, the vibe here is very cool. Contrary to another reviewer noting "small appetizers", we ordered the Nacho appetizer and it was MASSIVE (and delicious). Completely worth the $10 we paid. I ordered the LP margarita cocktail and thought it was very good. Between the three of us we ordered the Ribeye tacos, the Pescado Tacos, and one with shrimp. Everyone was very impressed with the quality of the food - we did not share the experience noted by another that the food was in "pools of grease". That was absolutely not the case for us, but I wonder if they may not have understood that some dishes may be greasier than others depending on what you order. Our total came to just over $100 before tip for 3 adults + 1 kid, in which appetizers and drinks were ordered in addition to entrees. Is this place "cheap"? No. However, the pricing is no different than if you were to have dined at Eureka! or Lazy Dog right next to it AND, in our experience having dined at all 3, we were very impressed with the meal for the price (Lazy Dog seems to always disappoint). There are so many cool things on the menu that we can't wait to come back and try something new.

If you're still with me here, I'll be frank to say that some of these low reviews are total garbage - and the reviewers should be ashamed of themselves (or have their "Local Guide" privileges revoked). A woman left 1 star having never dined at the establishment b/c she called ahead and they did not offer a vegan option. Move on, lady. Another self-righteous Doordash driver left 1 star (also having never dined there) because the kitchen staff ordered food and did not tip him. Good - you seem like a jerk. Another low review instead plugged other restaurants being better, which comes across as probably someone associated with a competitor that is threatened by a new business. And whoever referred to the food here as "upscale Taco Bell" is either a liar or also did not actually dine at La Popular.

This is a great restaurant with incredible diverse options and what appears to offer a very solid M-F Happy Hour. It is completely worth checking out if you have not dined...

Went with friends after deciding to try a different place. Been here before and usually sit at bar. My last experience I would rate a fail. I don’t like leaving bad reviews! But the experience I had recently was disappointing. Decided to take advantage of their Happy Hour. Their Happy Hour menu consists of a barely legible table tent that is green with FAINT yellow printing on it describing items and prices. It was almost impossible to read. This must be a joke? Eventually my friend wanted fish tacos and he asked the bar lady specifically if this was on the Happy Hour menu? She said yes. Fast forward. When the check arrived the fish tacos were full price. When the bartender who told us no worries she had a lame excuse that his particular order was not on the Happy Hour menu. Actually it is! Food came erratically at intervals. Had to ask once where our order was? Abandoned at the bar? There are very few customers sitting at the bar yet two female service people behind it and basically ignoring us. Had to waive my arm to get someone’s attention even tho they were only 5 ft away? Really poor attention to customers and never had anyone check on us. We needed water! So overall not sure about coming back. I own a local restaurant with a large staff and my optics when I go to another restaurant is observing the overall business and the staff. So without being too critical I like their hostess ladies and they do a great job. The staff in the bar would be in my office having a closed door meeting and taking about...
