I am absolutely outraged by the treatment I received at Crate & Barrel today. While browsing for, I was abruptly approached by a rude employee named Cheryl, who had the audacity to say that "only customers are allowed". "Excuse me?" What exactly did she think I was doing there? I was look for furniture or looking for any household items that would fit in my apartment but apparently I don't fit her narrow-minded idea of what one should look like?
This is blatant DISCRIMIATION and a complete failure of basic customer service. Rather than offering assistance or treating me with any respect, she made an insulting assumption and essentially kicked me out. In her words, "Shoo, or I will have to write you up". This was frustrating to hear from her, what was she going to write me up for? She couldn't even treat me with basic compassion and decided to treat me like a child. Not only was this humiliating, but deeply offensive as if I somehow didn't belong simply because of my appearance. This is completely unacceptable
To make matters worse, when I voiced my frustration to Kathy, she barely acknowledged my concerns. Instead of addressing the situation with the care and professionalism I expected, she handed me a half-hearted apology, avoided eye contact, and rushed through helping me with a quote--as if she just wanted me gone. Do you really think, after the utter disrespect I experienced, that I would spend my money here?
This experience was not just one incident. After this happened, I checked the reviews, and it turns out I'm not the only one who has experienced racial discrimination at this location. It is beyond disturbing to see multiple reviews describing similar encounters with racism and poor treatment. The fact that this pattern of racial bias continues unchecked is disgraceful
Crate & Barrel, is this how you train your employees? To judge, dismiss, and insult potential customers instead of welcoming them? How many more customers need to experience this before you take action? You've lost my business permanently. I refuse to spend a dime at a store that treats people with such blatant disrespect and unprofessionalism. If you value respect and fair treatment, do yourself a favor, skip Crate & Barrel and take your money somewhere that actually appreciates...
Read moreCrate and Barrel is next to Nordstrom on the other side of the mall. The map shows it basically inside JC Penney on the opposite end of the mall. This is good to know because if you type in the address and are doing a pick up you will have no luck picking up from Crate & Barrel inside JC Penney. Maybe it was located there a very long time ago I am not sure but Google won't change it. The pick up and parking lot is just around the turn at Nordstrom in the same parking area as Pottery Barn. The pick up spaces are on the very far right side facing Crate & Barrel. Crate and Barrel is on 2 floors and you can enter from the mall on both floors and you can also access directly to the first floor from the parking lot. It's about average in size (maybe on the smaller side) and is the only Crate & Barrel location in the Sacramento area. It's useful because you can do in store pick up for free for quite a few items that are like medium size (mirrors, side tables) but they have a good size inventory of smaller items anything else will ship form their Chicago area headquarters while large furniture deliveries occur via truck from Tracy Warehouse. Delivery is expensive so if you can pick up from Tracy it's worth considering. It can be cheaper to hire a local moving company that does pickups (depending where you live) to send them to Tracy instead of using C&B Delivery. If you're doing a large order it's always worth using C&B services as the unlimited price is a great deal. It's just tricky because you have to really plan ahead to make use of the unlimited fee. Staff at this location are hit or miss I would say on average they are aloof with some very unfriendly and some friendly. The GM is very friendly the others...
Read more$6500 Axis couch falling apart after 2.5 years. Look, I get it, it's a good looking couch. They've been making them for a pretty long time too. It says quality and design in the title of the webpage. We've even heard stories of them lasting for 20 years, but this isn't the case here for us. The couch is 2.5 years old, hardwood pieces on the corner have broken (note 2 pictures since the initial one we received was damaged during shipment). Since the corner was not made at the same time the seats sections click mechanism doesn't align properly (pictured also), and now we're dealing with cut feet from staples that have started to pop along the bottom edge where the fabric is held. This is a nearly $6500 custom built couch that should last nearly 10x as long, it has.
Weâve reached out to customer service, starting at the store when the couch was around 18 months old, and then through phone support. Theyâve stated the item is out of warranty and there is ânothing they can doâ. Do note there is no specific warranty information posted on the item, from what Iâm seeing this couch actually doesnât come with any warranty, just that it will arrive interacted and âundamagedâ but good luck from there.
It took phone/online support nearly 3 months to tell us after ârunning it up the chainâ that nothing can be done. Weâve just asked for a replacement item since this one is falling apart, this is the least they could do...
