I gave a five star review but there was definitely one con that I will talk about after sharing what I liked. The esthetic is fabulous. Walking in, the decor is beautiful and pleasing. The hostess was very amiable and despite it being a Saturday and lunch time, there was no wait and she showed us directly to our table. The food was excellent - I had the mushroom risotto and my son had the teriyaki steak - both delicious. The risotto was cooked to perfection and was creamy, yet still fresh thanks to the peas, asparagus and micro greens. We had the sticky pudding for dessert which tasted good, but the sugar was still granulated (possibly the chef used turbinado sugar?) which created a texture I did not care for, but my son ate the whole thing, so still a win. Our server Brittany was a super star despite being super in the weeds thanks to bad management. And here is what really bothered me about my visit. It was a Saturday at lunchtime. There was a large 50th birthday party in the private room full of ladies who were clearly ready to enjoy some cocktails. Our server, Brittany, was not only serving, but also the lone bartender. Meanwhile, the manager was walking around doing absolutely NOTHING! And despite being super in the weeds, Britanny managed to make massive amounts of cocktails AND not drop the ball on service to our table. The manager should be fired. He should have properly staffed the restaurant for the large birthday party and a Saturday lunch. If people called in sick, he should have promoted a busser (there were plenty) to server to help out. He should have jumped in as a server to help out. He should have jumped in and at least poured beer and wine to help out. He should have done ANYTHING to help out. But he was just dead weight. Walking around doing nothing while his bartender was struggling to keep up with orders. The manager didn't even come over to our table to check in (which was something I often did as manager if I had free time - customer feedback is super important!) And, having been a manager myself, bad management really sticks in my craw. You can tell when it is the staff and when it is the fault of management. Which is why I still left an excellent review because the staff and the chef are fantastic, and I will be back again. So, to the owners, whoever was working as manager on October 19th, lunchtime, you should fire him. Get someone in there who knows what they are doing so your amazing staff can have the support...
Read moreIn our visits to rose park weve come 4 times and only received 1 exceptional dining experience. I probably wont return for awhile. Mother's Day was a fail they did not prepare for how busy they will be. Even with multiple reservations still open they could not handle the people in attendance. Our server was manning both inside tables and outside. We barely saw her the entire time only to take our order and apologize for the food. We waited over an hour to receive our entrees and had to keep my child busy for that hour. The table next to us waited 30 min to even be greeted then another 1.5 hours to get their food. My steak ordered medium. Rare came out rare plus I was starving and ate half of it. They did take it off the bill but I was craving it all week. The food came out cold the service was lacking and the wait was long. I would never return here on a busy day they can't handle it.
Update: we returned to celebrate my 30 birthday. While the food improved 100% compared to last time with larger portions and came out quick. The service was lacking due to how busy they were. Our server was kind and it really wasn't her fault she was manning a large party along with us . It wasn't an inviting experience from the host who didn't mention on our reservation it was a birthday so we of course had to ask to have a birthday dessert. There is room for improvement to go above and beyond for experience but I will return because the food was great.
Cordell did an amazing job serving us for our 6 year anniversary. He made good recommendations on food, drinks, and desserts, while also making us feel special at the end. We hardly ever spend $ on dinner like this but it was worth it for us tonight.
For drinks I had the pear mocktail as I'm 9 months pregnant. It was good not too sweet but had sparkling for a kick. Mezcalita my S/O said was really good.
For entrees we have the Paella and Teriyaki skirt steak both were tasty.
For dessert we enjoyed the Ricotta pistachio cake and the lava cake....
Read moreWe came here for a lunch on a Sunday as we have wanted to try it out since opening. We were seated immediately and a waiter came around asking if we wanted sparkling or still water - and turns out the sparkling water is $7/bottle! Such a pet peeve of mine when in American restaurants the sparkling water appears to be free. And $7/bottle was not disclosed to us, so with 3 bottles that was an unexpected $21 charge. Also, the waiters were nice but they did a very poor job communicating how many bottles we ordered. Why are there two different people serving us anyways?? When the bill came out they checked in with us to ask how many bottles we got and we didn’t know. We had two on the table but the waiters said we had 3 and we didn’t argue. On to the food. The salmon and crab burger was really good but needed more sauce, and the mixed salad it came with was amazing. The burger was also very good. I will say, their fried foods are WAY too oily. The calamari and fries that came with the burger were soggy and seeping with oil. Additionally, we ordered one burger with no produce and it came out with lettuce, tomato, and onions. This is why I rate the food so low, because it is just not worth the price tag. When it came time to pay, we had to ask for a box for our leftovers 3x, every time the server came around.
All of this came out to be a mediocre and overpriced dining experience, with us feeling that this restaurant wants to be upscale but lacks the restaurant know-how and experience to be upscale. Maybe they will work out their kinks in service but there are definitely growing pains now.
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, due to the price for...
