My sister and I made reservations for Sunday brunch on the preceding Friday. We specifically stated on Open Table that we wanted to sit inside, as we did our due diligence and understood that the temperature would be in the 30’s that day.
We arrived for our reservation at 11:30, only to be told by the hostess that our table was moved to the patio. I told her that was not correct, as I specifically recalled making it for the inside dining room. She then stated that we could just sit at the bar because they had a 12:30 reservation that was coming in. We declined, so she took us to a table and reminded us that we would need to be finished at 12:30 in order to accommodate the next reservation.
Not even 10 minutes later, she clears off a table across from us and tells us to move there so that we would not have to rush. She expected us to move over and did not initially help us move our drinks over to the new table which had already been served to us by that time. What we found interesting is the fact that there were other parties seated along the same booth that we were not asked to leave, and no one else was asked to move seats. Further, she stated that Open Table has been shifting certain reservations to the patio, but there were no guests sitting on or escorted to the patio for the duration of our visit.
After we took care of our checks, we asked to speak with a manager, but our server stated that there were no managers there, and that the owner was also not there. When I asked who was in charge, she stated no one was. That truly explains a lot.
My sister was in town to visit me this weekend, and I made reservations at this restaurant as she wanted to have a nice brunch. This experience made us feel extremely uncomfortable, not to mention the fact that we were humiliated by basically being forced to move our drinks and everything else to a different table in the middle of our reservation, while no one else was asked to. The attitude of the hostess did not make things any better. When I expressed how this experience made us feel, she threw her hands up and said, “well, I just work here.” No one apologized or even acknowledged our experience. The hostess blamed Open Table, but if that is the platform you all choose to use for your reservations, then it is up to you to deal with the fallout of it automatically “rearranging reservations.” My sister and I were treated as if we had done something wrong, and we are just curious as to why all of the other reservations took precedence over ours?
I left the restaurant in tears over this experience, and you won’t ever have to worry about me patronizing this establishment again. There are far too many options, and I have never been treated with this level of unprofessionalism and disregard as a paying customer like...
Read moreThis was my first visit and it didn't disappoint. Canton St. Social has a lively atmosphere in the very walkable downtown Roswell. It's a family owned and run restaurant and that's evident by the warm welcome, and great camaraderie between staff. Our server, John, was attentive and gave excellent suggestions. We started with drinks and I had the vanilla chai old fashioned. It was incredible. Smooth, a nice balance of flavor. My friends got the pear pressure martini. It was a little sweeter than mine but fresh and unique. We ordered three appetizers (too many as the portions were generous) - Buffalo cauliflower, tempura vegetables, and Parmesan truffle fries. Every one was brought out freshly made and hot. Dipping sauces were just right. The vegetable tempura was a mix of veggies with a light batter - soy sauce and sweet chili sauces for dipping. The Parm fries had an amazing truffle oil flavor. I ordered the pan seared scallops with mushroom risotto. That first bite of risotto was incredible. Really good flavor, great texture. The scallops were large and nicely seasoned. My friends had the double chicken over mashed potatoes and the chicken piccata - everything was delicious. All our portions were large so togo boxes were in order. The food was made to order and came out hot and tasty. The open-view kitchen was always busy and well-managed. We were stuffed but finished with a shared flourless chocolate torte (with a side of vanilla ice cream). It was delicious. While the restaurant was busy, we could easily have private conversations while having a shared experience with the vibe of the crowd. Highly recommended. I'm looking forward to going back...
Read moreNot sure what happened last night, but this place did not provide a great experience. We had reservations & were seated quickly. Our server was very nice (though I can’t remember her name), but she started out by telling us something about how crazy the day had been there. We had a party of 6 and ordered drinks and appetizers- the spinach dip came out ice cold and had to be sent back, and we were also given cauliflower on accident instead of shrimp. No biggie. We ordered dinner, and it took like 45 minutes to get our food. One person had soup and a salad- soup was barely warm, another got a burger - the fries on the side were cold, I got a NY strip rare which was cold and was supposed to come with lobster Mac & cheese that never arrived…when we asked, the server looked at the menu and said “huh, guess it does come with that…we’re out of lobster so let me see what we can make happen”. I will say two people got pizzas and they were great! Overall, though, we barely touched our food because it wasn’t cooked appropriately and didn’t taste great anyway. They cleared full plates without even asking what happened or how they could make it right. Didn’t ask for a manager, but having worked in the service industry, if I’d seen all of the uneaten food on our table after a 45-50 minute wait for the food, I would’ve, as the manager or owner, inquired as to what happened. Either way, we had a nice time with great company, but we won’t...
