My wife myself and a friend meet for dinner here this evening. We sat outside and our waitress was Logan. Everything was great to start, we got the garlic rolls and the calamari both of which very good.
As we conversed we noticed Logan hadn't checked on us in awhile and we were ready to order. Eventually we flagged her down to order and got the side of ranch my wife wanted with the calamari. We ordered our dinners and I got a drink. As we were waiting we noticed Logan was sitting down talking with a table we assume were her friends (no big deal we understood as it was getting towards to end of the night and she didn't have to many tables left). Once our food arrived as they were placing it down she asked how it was and if we needed anything else. Of course we didn't have a chance to try anything as the runner still had half the food in his hands but we did not need another condiments as many standard Italian additions are already on the table (Parmesan, Red Pepper, oils etc.) Normally not a problem as we were expecting to enjoy our meals, unfortunately the Seafood Cannelloni I ordered tasted rather funny. I thought maybe the drink I had was interfering with my taste buds, but both my wife and our friend also tried it and came to the same conclusion. My plan was to mention something when Logan stopped by to check on us again, however that did not happen for another 20 or so minutes. Once everyone else had finished their meals. I could see in the distance Logan was at the same table talking with her friends again. Eventually, she noticed none of us were eating and she got up and asked if we wanted boxes. I mentioned I didn't enjoy my meal and she stated I should've said something earlier (unfortunately I never got the opportunity like I planned to). I said I was not interested in ordering anything else or any desserts. I was hoping that the meal would be removed from my check since no more than 4 bites were taken but it was not.
A combination of the lack of attention to service, the comment about not saying anything sooner (when no chance was giving) and not removing the meal for the check are leading to the length review. Overall we were rather disappointed by the time we left Ipp's and don't plan on going back with all the other options...
Read moreIt's obvious that this progeny born from the local Ippolitos standards around town has learned much from it's predecessors. The atmosphere is chic but relaxed, stylish yet unpretentious, and the staff is professional, attentive, and kind. The food remains the star of the show though of course with classics presented with perfection. For starters, the bruschetta might be the very best I've ever had - the light flavors of tomato, red onion, mozzarella, and basil dance delicately atop a baguette that's as crunchy as it is satisfyingly soft and chewy in the center. The fried mozzarella is also exemplary. Even the ceasar salad was memorably delightful, but the caprese was served on arugula with only a single slice of basil that was difficult to find among the lettuce and had to be split between the two provided slices of tomato and mozz, part of my reasoning for the missing star. For mains, we had their Chicken Parmesan, Shrimp a la Vodka, and Risotto. Among these, the Shrimp really stuck out with the vodka sauce dripping from large, savory rigatoni served perfectly all dente. The Chicken Parmesan was spot on and exactly what one would expect. The risotto, however, was slightly crunchy and could have probably done one more lap in the pan, but the flavors were all there. Lastly, the Million Dollar Cake (picture attached) is truly is a steal as the flavors of mousse, cheesecake, and brownie meld together like magic. All in all, I'm impressed with what Ipps had to offer and the professionalism with which they operate: on learning of the risotto, dessert was comped, which we really appreciated. With a bit of polish yet, Ipps has come out of the gate swinging hard to become yet another of Roswell's staple institutions, and as a local, that's something I can really get behind. We'll be back soon,...
Read moreI have loved Ipps sister resturant, ippalitos for years and always love to support a family owed local business. Ipps is beautiful inside and the patio is one of the best in roswell. Like its sister restaurant, the food is great and the portions are generous. My only complaint is that Ipps did an absolutely horrible job of social distancing. I have made a conscious effort to support local resturants after the difficult year they have had, but I felt more uncomfortable at Ipps than I have at any other resturant I have been to since this pandemic started. The patio seating was packed, so we sat at the bar which was empty when we arrived and seemed like the safer choice at the time. There was hand sanitizer placed around the bar and hostess stand which I appreciated but this was quickly negated by the fact that many staff members were wearing masks incorrectly and the bartender was not wearing a mask at all which made me extremely uncomfortable. Soon after we arrived people started filling the bar, there was absolutely zero attempts made to socially distance parties appropriately. I had a random person literally 2 feet away from me and when she started coughing that was it for me. We closed out and ended up getting our food to go and got out of there as quickly as we could. If a lack of social distancing or appropriate safety measures dosnt bother you, I would absolutely recommend Ipps it really is a great resturant, if it does, i would stick to take out for the foreseeable future. As an ICU nurse I cannot overlook these things and was upset that such a great resturant that I would love to be able to support took such a lax approach to the safety of their staff...
