As a New Mexican, I have high expectations for authentic and flavorful Mexican cuisine, and Cerritos Mexican Kitchen in Roswell, NM, exceeded them beautifully. This gem of a restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with food that feels like home.
Ambiance: Cerritos has a cozy, family-friendly vibe with vibrant Mexican décor that instantly makes you feel welcome. The colorful walls, traditional artwork, and comfortable seating create an inviting environment perfect for a casual meal with family or friends.
Food: The menu at Cerritos is a celebration of traditional Mexican and New Mexican cuisine. I started with the chips and salsa, which were fresh and perfectly seasoned. For the main course, I chose the carne adovada, and it did not disappoint. The tender pork was marinated in a rich, flavorful red chile sauce that had just the right amount of heat.
The enchiladas, smothered in green chile, were another highlight. As someone who loves green chile, I was pleased to find it had the perfect balance of spice and flavor. The accompanying rice and beans were well-seasoned and complemented the main dishes nicely.
Service: The service at Cerritos is exceptional. The staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made excellent recommendations and ensured that our dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish.
Overall Experience: Cerritos Mexican Kitchen is a fantastic representation of the culinary richness of New Mexico. The food is authentic and flavorful, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is top-notch. Whether you're a local or just passing through Roswell, Cerritos is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy genuine Mexican cuisine.

Read moreFood is very average and my wife and I eat A LOT of Mexican food. I like the flavor of spicy Mexican however this was big on heat and not on flavor. My wife ordered the combo plate and couldn't eat her enchilada because it was making her hair sizzle. The complimentary salsa was tasty and fairly hot but while I enjoyed it, my wife did not. Guacamole was not prepared at our table as another reviewer mentioned. The Guacamole was basically 50% Guacamole and 50% diced tomato. It was ok in it's own right but not the Guacamole experience we had hoped for. No happy hour! Minus one star for that by itself. Service... our waitress "Tess" missed her nap today. Not cheerful and made us feel like we were a nuisance tucked away in our booth. Cerritos only has wine, beer, and 3 flavors of margaritas. My wife had the strawberry margarita and couldn't finish it... basically an over-the-top sweet mess of a margarita.. We were just passing through needing to fill our bellies but this proved to be a below-par choice. Expect just a 3- star experience and you'll leave contented... maybe.
Update 4/26.. My wife and I have discussed this Mexican dinner several times since posting the initial review. We are in complete agreement that it was the worst Mexican food we’ve ever had. We both felt it well into the next day… know what I mean? I pulled a star off my initial review because any establishment that can leave that kind of an impression on us deserves a 2-star...
Read moreI have no doubts this place is good every night, but we happened to make it for Taco Tuesday and let me tell you... even if they were $9.99 vs $.99 they really were (receipt for proof)... I'D PAY IT!!!!! Yes the mango margaritas were delicious too!! Some of the BEST tacos I've ever had! (and I'm from Texas so I feel like I have a good base lol) The owner said they have their own butcher and also make their taco shells from scratch! I believe it! They were so crispy but also the perfect thin & not heavy. They were FULL with meat and ONLY & $.99 ea on Tuesdays! I'd prefer these any day but HIGHLY recommend!!
OK we came back for breakfast, it was amazing, I had huevos rancheros, My hubs has the skillet & it was delicious! And then came back for dinner again because I'm serious it was that good. I had the Chimichanga, Dave had the enchiladas, let me tell you the ground beef is just out of this world... ok OK but let's talk about dessert, the sopapillas were AMAZING and then we got to try the Xango a la Mode... if this was my birthday this would be my cake... holy moly OMG this thing was absolutely the most delicious dessert I've ever had, the best combo of sweet, salty, warm, & cold. AGAIN, HIGHLY...
