I’m reviewing this inn based on what I used it for - a place to crash while traveling through. I was on a road trip leg from Denver to Austin, hitting a few National Parks along the way. I’d always wanted to at least see Roswell, so this looked like a good place to overnight.
I generally try not to stay in “cheap” motels, but since I was going to stay in Roswell, why not try to insert a bit of campiness into my trip? I took a gamble and booked a room.
It’s been a while since I’ve stayed in a room where you park your car right in front of the room, but you know what? It was kind of nice.
The rooms were very clean. Much cleaner than I’ve gotten in hotels that cost three times as much. The tile floors probably have something to do with that. Hotel carpets can get pretty gross, especially now that most have gotten away from daily housekeeping.
The bed was super-comfortable, I’ve been on the road for a week now, and this was the first time that I’d woken up after a full night’s sleep and was disoriented at not finding myself in my own bedroom. Every night before then in every other place, I’d tossed and turned all night. I slept like a log in this bed.
I rarely take advantage of other hotel offerings, like swimming pools, breakfasts, office centers, or dining. I usually never even turn on the TV. For me, a room on the road is a place to get some sleep for the next day. If all I care about is a clean room and a comfortable bed, why spend more for services that I won’t use?
My room had a king size bed, two nightstands, a large mini fridge, a microwave, and the usual hotel furniture. The bathroom was clean and everything worked. The towels weren’t as plush as I usually see, but they’ll dry you up after a shower.
For this price and this location, I can’t see being able to get a better bang-for-the-buck. If I’m ever passing through again, I would not hesitate to stay here again.
I only wish that the rooms had a more “Roswell” theme to them. Maybe a little alien head painted in the corner...
Read morePros: Cute motel on the main road through Roswell. Service was friendly and prompt even during a late night arrival. There were light snacks and some beverage options to grab at breakfast time if you were so inclined. Tiny hand sanitizer bottle provided in the room, along with other basic toiletries. Mini fridge and microwave in the room. You get to park right outside your room. Hot water for a great shower.
Cons: Right next door to the hospital and Care Flight helicopter landing pad, which came in for a landing right after we arrived and were just falling asleep. THINNEST WALLS EVER. We shared a wall and an adjoining door with a neighboring room that had a 1-2 year old child. The child started shrieking, screaming, and squealing at 5 am, and when we left at 7:15 am, he was still at it. I sleep with ear plugs, and this kid still woke me up because it literally sounded like he was in the same room as us. Then I could hear mom and dad talking too, like word for word, through a wall with ear plugs in. At 6, I finally had the bright idea to put my noise cancelling Beats headphones in my ears instead. Still, I could hear this kid’s ear piercing squeals. So I turned my music on at about 60% volume, and the shrieking finally got drowned out. But by this point, I couldn’t fall back asleep, so I just packed up and started my day much earlier than planned after 4.5 hours of sleep. As I was loading the car, they took their kid outside, and he started walking around the parking lot and shrieking outside for even more of the motel guests to hear.
My overall experience there was completely ruined by this family who let their kid squeal nonstop for over 2 hours. The family and their lack of consideration for other guests gets a 0 star review. I realize the hotel owners don’t control their guests, so I’m giving the hotel itself 3 stars, as the stay would’ve been decent without the nightmare next door. But be aware, if you have loud neighbors you will...
Read moreDo not let the pictures fool you, this place needs a lot of work to be worth the prices they're charging. Upon arrival, management completely went back on the price we were quoted due to a scheduling mishap. Dishonesty is not a good first impression, but we finished checking in regardless and went to the room. That should have been enough of a red flag, but we were exhausted from being on the road for over 7 hours.
The room was an absolute toilet. It was full of flies, and the entire room felt damp, including the bed and pillows. Speaking of toilets, this one was so weak it couldn't even flush toilet paper. Management came to the room and attempted to fix the problem on their own, but this entire hotel needs professional repairs to even start being MAYBE adequate. The bathroom sink only had one temperature, which was boiling hot. We tried to fix the temperature issue, but the valves and piping underneath the sink were so rusted and corroded that it wasn't possible.
After management couldn't simply fix the issues, they moved us to a different room. It was only slightly better. We chose this location because it looked like a lot of fun, but the pictures were completely misleading. It might've looked like that once upon a time, but not now. If you need to stay in Roswell, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. This place is a complete dump and in a very...
