Update 6/6/2025: Increased to 4 stars! Came back to try this place after so long. The bo luc lac was tender and had a lot of veggies and had a good char flavor to the beef. The hu tieu ap chap had also a good char to the noodles not being soggy and had a good balance of flavor and saltiness. Last time a lot of the food was too salty this time it was perfect.
Original review: I'm glad that we have a new place to compete in this area for a Chinese/Vietnamese family style restaurant. I would say that this place is not "wow" but worth a try.
We had the Hu Tieu Ap Chao which was probably the best out of the dishes we had. The noodles were crunchy and the sauce and ingredients were good. The Bo Luc Lac needed to be more tender and the portion size was lacking. The soft shell crab was salty and really didn't impress me much. Lastly, we ordered the lobster with tamarind and got the ginger scallion. The lobster was good, meaty, and I found that the sauce was reasonable. We had the pho, but honestly... Go somewhere else for pho.
They just opened and it's a soft opening so I'll give them a little bit to work out some kinks. I'll give them another try and update if...
Read moreI will say the food we ordered was delicious, however, there was some language barrier which made it hard to order.. we initially requested the live lobster and after a long and confusing conversation, we understood that the live lobsters they had in the tank were reserved.. weird but ok.. lol.. we ended up ordering the live dungeness crab and had it cooked in a curry and omg, it was delicious!! Ordered lobsters fried rice, crab Rangoons, Thai tea and coconut water too..
Upon receiving our food on the table, we were approached by an employee and started a conversation and was told to follow him to the tank to see a lobster we CAN have.. because he asked us what we ordered and told him crab, but really came here for the lobster.. he said we can have it and we happily said ok!! And we will keep and pay for the crab too obviously!! He got us all hyped up just to let us down and few minutes later and told us we couldn't have it! I'm so confused at this point I didn't know what to say or how to feel.. lol.. he asked us to come back the weekend after so we can have a lobster.. we will be back but...
Read moreStopped by for a family dinner, we discovered a hidden gem. We ordered the lobster and crab. Lobster was served with ginger and scallion sauce. Unlike other restaurant, the ginger scallion sauce was not watery, which make the lobster meat crunchier and retain the natural sweet flavor of the lobster meat. The crab was cook with tamarin sauce. Crab was fresh, meat was filled the shell (if seafood sit in the tank for too long, their meat will shrink and separate from the shell). Tamarin sauce was not too sour while still carrying the flavor. Also tried their lobster fried rice, this is a unique take to traditional fried rice. Lobster was cooked like chicken nugget added a little crunch to every bite. Over all, I really enjoy my time here. Foods were good. Price was reasonable if not on the cheaper side. Customer service was good for only have 2 servers running everything. Definitely a recommendation for anyone who is looking for asian food. P.S. we also noticed that we didnt get that weird thirsty feeling after leaving. This is from the restaurant refrained from using MSG, which we...
