Jack in the Box — Restaurant in Round Rock

Honestly if I could I would give this rating a zero star. I used to work in the service industry and I completely understand wanting to get home and be done with the shift. I make it a point to never go to an establishment right before they close for that reason. However this Jack in the box on Google says that it closed at 12: 00am and I arrived at 9:45pm. Upon arriving and going to make my order I was informed that they were closed. When I inquired why they were closed, and what time they closed I was told they closed at I was informed that they closed early to clean. When I then asked again what time they closed I was told 10:00 p.m. pushing the issue further I I was confused because if they close at 10:00 why can I make my order at 9:45. After a brief what I would call discussion I was able to make my order. I then pulled forward to take the food and as I was waiting another car came up and ordered and was giving zero grief about their order. When I talked to whom I assume is the manager because he was wearing a different shirt than the rest he told me that they had to close early to clean. When asking why the car behind me didn't get any grief he told me that obviously they couldn't not take their order cuz they had just taken mine. Luci and I went to Jack in the Box because we got a text message that it was National Drive thru Day. The message said we could get a free shake with any purchase. Unfortunately their shake machine was not working. Then why give them 5 stars? They immediately offered us a free chocolate cake!! We love great customer service. The gentleman at the window sincerely apologised for not being able to give us the shake and then cheerfully offered the dessert. So many times at other places we have felt like they resent offering something else. We felt he truly wanted to make things better. We ordered the mini taco $5 box. The avocado sauce is amazing. The tacos were very crunchy because they were slightly over cooked. I loved the extra crunch. Luci ate the centers out of her two and left the outside edge. She absolutely loved that these tacos were her size. (She is a 5 lb mini Maltipoo.) I ordered an unsweet iced tea. I got home and took a drink. It was sweet, which I cannot drink. (Diabetic) That alone would normally drop their star rating to 3 but because the young man at the window was great at his job, that bumped them back up. Go somewhere else, and definitely don’t place online orders here. I don’t know what’s going on at this location. We almost placed an online order and I’m glad we didn’t or we wouldn’t have gotten our food I guess. It’s Saturday night and we pulled up around 1030pm. We probably waited in line for 15-20 minutes with 3 or 4 other vehicles in line with us. Finally, two guys came out the back and told everyone they’re closed right now. Whatever the reason we don’t know because all they said was were closed right now. why wasn’t there at least a sign outside so we weren’t stuck in a line waiting. Or why not come out sooner and say something? I don’t care what they’re doing or why, that’s y’all’s business. I just wanna know they’re not going to take orders so I can leave somewhere else to eat. We pulled out to the parking lot next door to look up other places to eat and the guys just stayed out there hanging out, I guess to tell other people driving up they were closed?
