Went here hoping/expecting Maharashtrian thali but was disappointed as it was a weekend. Owner said only buffet is available on weekends so as to cater to a larger crowd but you can visibly see as well notice in taste the standard is sub par and most of the dishes on the buffet are thrown together last minute with a bunch of chilies. Chicken 65 literally was only red color and spiciest mess. Malwani Chicken curry on the buffet is chicken and generic spices put in the cooker as you cannot taste any marination in the chicken pieces. - boiled meat taste is clearly noticeable. Paneer and chole masala are okay, at best. Aam panna was way watered down, most likely due to putting too many ice cubes to chill it but the water to taste ratio is so miscalculated, Tea is decent. Aloo in Vada pav were not thoroughly cooked with a disproportionate amount of ginger garlic added to the mixture of filling inside the vada. Pav wasn’t half bad, had dry garlic and green chutney to accompany it. None of the dishes have any description unde their names, which is unfortunate for people not knowing what each dish contains, no symbols for veg / non-veg distinction. Tandoori roti was decent. Puri was half cooked and doughy. At times, clean plates and/or bowls were missing from start of buffet lines. Masala rice was also just spicy and devoid of any veggies in it. Restaurant is trying to do too much at once causing them to lose their identity. Just look at the number of items on their menu, clearly trying too hard to cater to everyone’s palate. Not at all worth the buffet price of $18.99 + tax. Much better Indian restaurants in Round Rock area. TL;DR Not recommended, better restaurants available in vicinity.

First of all - it is wonderful to see a restaurant with Maharashtrian items on the menu in the Austin area. If you’ve never tried this cuisine, go try something new at this restaurant, and support a new business! Recommendations based on hailing from this state - Thalipeeth, Sabudana Wada, Kothimbir Wadi, Jhunka Bhakri, Vada Pav, Misal Pav, Puran Poli (works as a main/ dessert), Kairi Panha & Sol Kadhi (refreshing drinks), Kharvas, and definitely get the Meetha Pan. Recommendations based on dining here - Thalipeeth, saoji Curry & Bhakri, Meetha Pan. The menu has many items typically found on an Indian eatery menu - with some Maharashtrian items sprinkled throughout. There is definitely a lot more variety for non-vegetarians than those eating veg in the state specific options. The Thalipeeth was fresh, earthy, smoky and delicious, served with butter and curd. As I eat veg, I got the Patwadi Rassa, which is typically an oily dish thus I expected it to be so - for the portion size I would consider this overpriced, but understandable given the restaurant is starting out. The flavor was good. We also got the Saoji chicken, which was flavorful but cooked in a more homestyle manner than typical Nagpur-style Saoji. Service was polite and quick, and again, it felt great to see/hear the familiarity of Marathi-speakers around (all the servers of course speak fluent English, as you’d expect at any restaurant). Finally, ‘fine’ cuisine is a stretch, this is a simple, small restaurant, with homely/traditional dishes. Overall - highly recommend a visit, to explore new tastes/reminisce with familiar ones, and to support a cuisine unique to this metro area.

Finally found a Maharashtrian style food place in Texas - although it’s 160 miles away from my house in Houston, it was totally worth the drive! I could only try 10 dishes this first time so I am definitely coming back to try all the items from the menu! Amazing food and great service. A MUST try for anyone visiting Austin (or neighboring cities). We ordered the following and my honest take on each. My Top 3 were — Surmai fry - Maharashtrian / Malwani style preparation and hit the spot — Vada pav - perfect combination of crispiness and spice. The fresh soft pav made it even better — Misal pav - pav is their signature and makes every dish worth it. The farsan being fresh and crispy is such a small detail but can make or break your experience — Thecha paneer tikka - excellent take on traditional paneer tikka using Maharashtrian thecha! — Thalipeeth - amazing taste and great consistency — Shrikand puri - the puris could be better — Sabudana vada - I did not enjoy the taste as they were slightly on the sweetish side but everyone with me enjoyed it — Jhunka Bhakari - the Jhunka was a disappointment and I did not enjoy it’s consistency For such good food, price isn’t important for me.. But I have to mention that 6 adults (with 3 heavy eaters) ate 10+ dishes and the cost was less than $20 per person! That is DEFINITELY a steak!

My son badgered me to go to this restaurant as it is close to his swim school. We visited the restaurant on Labor day during lunch time and we were the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived. On entering the restaurant, I was a bit underwhelmed as the restaurant space is small and there are a lots of distractions (trash cans) near the cash register which is quite visible because of the gallery style/layout of the restaurant. We were greeted by a person who I believe was the owner or the manager (different shirt than rest of the staff). We sat down and menus arrived and we started checking out the menu as this was our first time here. Just then we were served water and I heard the sound of ice while water was being poured and I requested this person, who I thought was the owner, to please serve water without ice. For some reason he had a problem with that. He said then the water would be hot. I did not understand why the water would be hot but politely asked him to leave the water with ice on the table and bring non-iced/hot water and we'll mix both to our comfortable temperature. He apparently did not understand that and got frustrated and in a non-cordial voice asked what do we want him to do. After explaining again, he brought the "hot" water which was not hot but room temperature. He got busy with phone calls, going in and out of the restaurant while we were going through the menu. We decided to order Punjabi Paneer Makhni and Butter Naan and Veg Hakka Noodles and Gobi Manchurian. We called this person (owner/manager) to order our food, as soon as I said "We'll go with Panjabi Paneer Makhni", he in a very condescending tone said "No appetizers, huh". No suggestions like "we have some great appetizers why don't you try this or that" but straight away shaming the customer for not ordering appetizers. Now, I feel we should have left at that moment. We ordered our food and Gobi Manchurian came fast, rest of the food took some time. Truly speaking the food did not taste good as this experience had already left bad taste in our mouths. At some point, this guy (owner/manager) left and slowly the restaurant filled and other wait staff came from inside the kitchen and served everyone. Just before we were to pay for our food, the guy (owner/manager) came back. Restaurant was busy and it was taking time to get the check, so walked up to the register to pay for the food and while I was there this guy (owner/manager) talked in a very demeaning tone with one of his wait staffs.

All in all, this guy is bad for this restaurant. He needs to learn customer service skills and he needs to start from level 1. Apparently he does not care about his staff either. He needs to know that people order food that THEY want to eat not what HE wants them to eat. We won't be...

I came to this restaurant with very high hopes. The experience was very bad unfortunately. We were seated at the table and had to wait for 20-25 mins just to give the order. The waiter came after 25 mins to take the order. I shared my concern that hey we were waiting for quiet a bit of time to which he responded yes I saw that and I was doing other things. I was a bit annoyed at this point and the least I would have expected was maybe accepting that they could have taken the order earlier. But I tried to make him understand that hey we were hungry and wanted to place the order and I dont think it is our problem that you were doing other things. To which he responded "I CAN ALSO SAY THAT IT IS NOT MY PROBLEM THAT YOU WERE WAITING" The owner or the manager I am not sure who it was, but he is very rude and misbehaves with the customers. I doubt if he even knows how to do business.

If you guys are hungry and looking for a good place to eat. Please dont go here.

I REPEAT, PLEASE DON'T GO HERE!

Train your staff first guys, before starting a business.

Just an update since you responded. I was being very polite and sharing my concern. If I had to misbehave or if I had attitude I would have raised my voice or created a scene. Your response in the restaurant and to my review both say enough about your hospitality and your attitude towards your customers. So thank you for your response, it best describes how you treat your customers. The restaurant was not busy. There were 4-5 tables that were occupied in the entire restaurant. And yes, you are short staffed. I understand that it's not possible to be available to all the tables when you are the one doing everything. I would have appreciated it if you had at least come to the table once and said that we are short staffed and I'll get back to you soon. Showing up after 15 mins and throwing attitude was the worst you could do! And you did it!

You trying to justify that it wasn't 20-25 mins but 15 mins and arguing here in the response is the best example of what kind of person is running the restaurant. The least you could have done in your response is to have some accountability and acknowledged the mistake or the delay. But I dont blame you, that's what happens when an unprofessional manager/owner is running the business. I hope someone teaches you some business ethics and values.

I understand restaurants can be busy at times and it is difficult to manage people but I also feel that's when you know if the place is good or bad by the way they treat the customers especially when they are...

Ambiance and Atmosphere Tulsi offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements the rich flavors of its cuisine. The decor is a beautiful blend of traditional Indian elements and modern aesthetics, creating a comfortable dining experience. Soft lighting and tasteful artwork enhance the ambiance, making it an ideal spot for both casual dinners and special occasions.

Service Excellence From the moment we walked in, Raikar ofer service was exceptional. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles and promptly seated us at our table. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, offering insightful recommendations based on our preferences. Throughout our meal, they checked in regularly to ensure everything was to our liking without being intrusive. This level of attentiveness made us feel valued as customers.

Food Quality and Variety The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the food. Tulsi boasts an extensive menu featuring a wide range of traditional Indian dishes, each prepared with authentic spices and fresh ingredients. We started with the samosas, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and filled with a flavorful potato mixture. For the main course, we ordered butter chicken and palak paneer, both of which were rich in flavor and beautifully presented. The butter chicken had just the right balance of creaminess and spice, while the palak paneer was vibrant and deliciously seasoned.

Additionally, we appreciated the variety offered for different dietary preferences, including vegetarian and vegan options. The naan bread was freshly baked—soft yet slightly charred—and paired wonderfully with our curries.

Overall Experience Our experience at Tulsi was nothing short of fantastic. The combination of excellent service, delightful ambiance, and outstanding food makes it a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine. We left feeling satisfied not only by the meal but also by the overall experience provided by the attentive staff.

I highly recommend Tulsi to anyone looking for a top-notch Indian...
