I usually don't review fast food places, but I will this time. I will start off by saying I love KFC. The issue is this location. I've had several instances of bad or lack of service, incorrect orders, they've run out of- get this- chicken, etc.
Tonight, I ran to get some food through the drive thru. As I looked at the menu I was asked multiple times what I wanted to order. I asked for a minute to look over the menu, as I didn't see what I normally would order, a simple 2 piece $5 box. She came on the line and asked if she could help me find something. Great. I asked her what I was looking for and she gave me the number they go by. I asked to change the normal side to coleslaw, and add a mac-n-cheese and what to have for my drink. She read the order and it didn't sound like she included the extra side. I asked about it and she didn't answer me, but gave me a total.
Since I apparently wasn't going to get help at the ordering station, I pulled to the window where someone who appeared to be some sort of manager or supervisor opened the window and I expressed my displeasure with how I was hurried through and wasn't helped.
His response was, "Well, we're timed, so...do you want your food? We have it ready."
I explained to him I wanted to make sure it was the right food! He then mentioned something about being timed and do I want the food or not. I gave him my card and told him to give me the food, which they then put together- because it wasn't ready, and I explained I had intended on ordering more (probably higher margin food like desserts) but since they were in a hurry I'd just take my order.
At no point did they repeat what I ordered or did anything to make sure they got it right. I took my food and left.
Other times I've waited 25 minutes (in the drive thru) for a relatively basic order. There's nothing in that restaurant that takes that long to cook, and they aren't that busy. I guess I should take the hint on that!
Save yourself from aggravation and horrible service and go to another- ANY other location before going here. This location has been horrible for years! Go to the Riverdale location. Heck, go to Salt Lake, or Idaho before you go here!
I don't expect a lot from high turnover, fast food places, but this location fails in every way the minimum expectations of any low quality fast...

KFC store in Roy, UT
For years I have been struggling with this location or several years. Every few months or so, I come back to see if something has improved. My most recent experience proves and nothing has changed. I find it interesting that a location can be so consistently bad for such a long period of time.
I tried to go to dinner here during a weeknight at 7:05pm. Dining room was closed. I understand that. Staffing issues in my area have created problems for restaurants, forcing them to shut down the dining rooms. I went through the drive-thru and tried it order a bucket of crispy chicken. They told me that there would be a long wait and I said I'm fine with it. I said I was willing to wait up to 40 minutes. Then the employee told me that they couldn't cook any chicken. I told him I would wait. She left the speaker for about 3 minutes and came back and said they were not cooking any more crispy chicken. What? No need to argue. We left and went to a different KFC about three miles down the road (Clearfield location).
This restaurant had an open dining room so we went inside and ordered our food. We ordered a bucket of crispy chicken and they said they would be shy one breast piece and would we be okay with original. We were. We had our food in less than 10 minutes. This was a great experience and is probably the best KFC store in the region.
An interesting note: there are two ovens that hold chicken; one for crispy and one for original. At the Clearfield store, the crispy one was empty and the original one was packed full. I think this is the reason why the Roy store would not sell us crispy chicken. They were trying to get rid of their original. The behavior of management at the Roy store is inexcusable. I can't believe corporation tolerance this but they have for years and will probably...
Read moreStore is dirty, really dirty, no one has cleaned the lobby all day. Employees are arguing about who will drop pot pies. No one wants to drop pot pies. The manager is just standing there. He is silent. "I'd like a pot pie, please." "We're out of pot pies, it will take twenty minutes." The Employees are still arguing, pies are still not dropped. "It just takes 20 minutes to cook them." As if I cannot hear the employees arguing, the manager just lies to my face. "We just dropped them." The employees are still arguing about who will drop pies. It's 6pm, the dinner shift, how can they possibly not be prepared for this? How can you not be ready for dinner to hit? KFC running out of pot pies is not as bad as them running out of chicken, but it shows that the manager didn't do his job. I'm flexible though, so I go call the wife, and see what she wants. I'm on the phone with her, discussing the menu. I was just going to do a famous bowl and a pot pie, but since the manager didn't prepare for the dinner shift, I'm buying a whole meal. Aslong as they still have sides, KFC not having sides would be as bad as KFC running out of chicken for dinner shift. The employees are still arguing. Pies still not dropped. Lobby still not clean. Manager just standing there, he just doesn't care. Worst manager I have ever encountered, I've been in kitchens for more than 30 years. I'm here, however, so I step forward to order.
"Sir, we're also out of chicken"
How is that even possible? Kentucky Fried Chicken has no chicken. It's your main product, and it's not like the store was busy, it's never busy here. No chicken, why are you even open? What did these people do all day? They obviously weren't doing prep.
Yeah, just go to the Clearfield location, the management here is far too busy doing nothing to...
