Congrats on the new opening in A2! My friend and I came to What Crepe on Liberty St. this morning (Ann Arbor) and left with mixed feelings. While the food was delicious, the service was the worst out of all the restaurants that we've tried in A2. We were seated right away and were told that Michela (Mikela sp?) would be waiting on us. After 15 minutes and no sign of Michela we asked a waitress who passed us by if we could please put in our order. She rudely pointed to Michela and said, "Michela will take your order" and walked away. After Michela was about to pass us my friend caught her attention and asked if we could order. I recieved my coffee right away but my friend never got her latte. No complaints about the wait for food or the food itself, in fact...the food was TO DIE FOR!! Both of our crepes were delicious and we would have written outstanding reviews on Google +, Yelp, and FourSquare had the service not been so horrendous. After my friend never received her latte we asked a male waiter to cancel the order. As we were eating our meal, Michela kept giving us looks and walked by our table looking very confused. I'm not sure how I feel about What Crepe because even though the food was delicious, the service was awful...so awful that I'm not sure if the food can make up for it. A lot of my co-workers discuss our experiences at different restaurants and I've never heard of having to wait so long to place an order or never receiving a forgotten dish/drink on the house because the staff messed up and forgot about the customer. I work with advertisers in the service industry and I hope that this email offers some helpful feedback for your future guests because your restaurant has a lot going for it...great location, fun ambiance, and amazing food. Maybe your other restaurants have better service and/or the staff was having a bad morning in you A2 location but I genuinely hope that the next time I decide to try What Crepe I have a...
Read moreWe made reservations for 12:30 on Mother's Day and ended up standing in the crowded entryway for 40 minutes waiting for a table, including my elderly grandmother who can't stand for long. No accommodations or apologies were offered.
When two tables were being cleared and we were next, my mother asked the server clearing them if the larger one was our table, and in a very rude tone she replied, "I TOLD you you were next!!" I was shocked that after making us wait standing for 40 minutes on Mother's Day, she would have the nerve to be rude to my mother who was just asking a simple question.
We told our server we had to leave at 1:45 to make it to Drag Queen Bingo down the street on time. Service was slow, despite the fact that it had calmed down considerably from when we first got there. We didn't get our food until 1:45, so we only had 5 minutes to eat and we were still late.
I got the Bon Appetit (fine, could use something to make it more cohesive so it didn't just fall apart into chunks of the different elements out of the crepe) with the shallot sauce (flavorless - basically just oil). The food was meh. I wouldn't go back for it even if the service had been perfect.
Our server was friendly and accommodating - a welcome attitude compared to the rude server (but still, no apology for the wait!). Also, we got to bring in our own prosecco for mimosas, although it took so long to get the glasses that we could only have a glass each.
A word of advice to the owner - hire people that will treat your customers with respect. I understand that Mother's Day is busy, but that's no excuse for a bad attitude, especially to mothers. If you're going to ruin people's plans on Mother's Day because you don't understand how reservations work, apologize and offer some sort of compensation. Try your best to...
Read moreVery disappointed in our visit to Le Crepe. When we arrived we were told they were only doing carry-out but had people sitting on their front patio eating their meal. We asked if we could take our carry-out and sit on the patio and were told no. Le Crepe advertised that they had gluten-free and vegan options and could adjust any of the items to fit the dietary restriction. I informed the woman working (not exactly sure who she was, manager maybe?) that my boyfriend and myself were both gluten-free and vegan, and was told they could accommodate and adjust any of the dishes to fit our restrictions. I selected Chocolate Eclair and my boyfriend selected the Banana Exotique. I was told that I had to pick something else because they couldn't accommodate my restriction for that dish. The woman recommended the Mixed Berry which I agreed to. At this point another customer has come in and they tell she can sit on the patio to eat her carry-out order, offer her water and walked her to a table. Eventually they tell us we can also sit on the patio which we move to. The other customer gets their food first then ours comes out about 5-7 minutes later. For $11.25, it was not what I was expecting. It was one crepe, filled with obviously canned fruit, with a mushy and gritty consistency, with Heshey's chocolate syrup drizzled on top. For $11.25, I'm expecting fresh fruit. My boyfriend didnt finish his as the crepe had a sour taste to it. If you have food allergies or dietary restrictions this is not the restaurant for you. Unsatisfied and still hungry, we went to Spacecat V-stro...
