Been eating here once a week for years. It's always been worth the drive from a few towns over. Lately it seems like they always forget an item (usually my almond gravy), and the food quality has gone down.
I was glad to pay the increase as long as the quality and service didn't change. I get that food just costs more nowadays, but it really feels like they're cutting corners and I hope it's just an accident every time that i order a pint of broccoli and get charged for a quart, but after 6 or 7 times i figure that i should just get the quart im paying for . Every time I order I have hopes that it's going to go back to how it was and it just seems to be slipping away and turning into something else.
The generals chicken used to be always cooked just right and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, covered with plenty of sauce. Nowadays it's kinda soggy and barely any sauce on it.
The young's rice used to be a cornucopia of pork, chicken and shrimp in a colorful medley of broccoli, snap peas, carrots and sprouts. Now it's more less a quart of brown rice with 5 mini shrimp and seemingly no pork and very little veggies.
The almond boneless chicken used to be so good, crispy breading with a generous portion of juicy white meat in between, now is just a soggy mess, and the sauce used to be a thick delicious gelatinous gravy, but it is now runny, soupy, flavorless liquid.
I get that every one is having trouble staffing and maybe they have to just take what they can get in the kitchen, but after my $30 orders became $60 I expected the quality to be just as well, unfortunately I think it may be time to throw in the towel and just get the stuff that's down the street and half the price since quality is no longer the big selling point.
I wish this wasn't the case, I just want high quality and it just doesn't seem to...
Read moreA+ Food and Customer Service...have been going to this place for years... haven't been here in a while but very happy to be back, food is great as i remember and would even it's better now(seems like quality is so much more consistent, nice portions, and customer service) The new owner (Joe) is very great at hospitality takes pride in what he does. If you chit-chatted with Joe you'd actually find this business is very much still in the family, from what i've encountered on my recent visits they are unparalleled. Today (Sunday) was very packed... any by packed i mean not a single parking space open and I know why -- along with good food I watched this foolish man (must of been in his 30's) grow very impatient and make a scene that he had to wait like everyone else in the room, after being real aggressive he stormed out in despair(How dare he had to wait 20 minutes in a packed building, right?). Coincidentally there was a new employee who's recently been hired working the front desk tonight -- to my surprise this young guy was very calm, friendly and collect about the situation(the angry guy, room full of people staring at him waiting for food, yikes) he even went on to engage with everyone in the room, didn't make a single person feel unwelcomed or singled out(mind you he's also taking customers orders, casing out orders, phone calls, handling food) this is a long review but as you can see I hardly ever make reviews and by far this one was worth mentioning, I wish this place was a dine-in AND takeout(full restaurant...
Read moreTake my review with a grain of salt because I had been ordering take-out from Young's since I was a kid and am biased. I had definitely been eating there at least 15 years before I moved out of the area. I remember that when I was attending high-school, I ordered the juiciest fried rice with the tastiest soy sauce I have ever had to this day in a fried rice. Eventually, a couple of my friends started ordering along with me and after some time, almost my whole high-school French class (the class I had before lunch break) was getting take-out from Young's every Tuesday. It became an event. That being said, the food is not truly authentic Chinese, but is certainly Chinese-inspired for American taste buds. Don't get confused by that statement as the cuisine is unimaginably tasty with layers upon layers of taste profiles. The salty, chewy, juicy, and, most certainly, umami flavors will decimate any preconceived beliefs you have that American-Chinese food must be PF Chang's :) The owner, Ming (I am ignorant as to how his name would be Romanized), is unbelievably friendly and is happy to give brief information on his time in China and America. He's an incredibly interesting man. Ask him :) The following opinion is purely speculative because I can't quite put my finger on it, but there is something about this restaurant that simply seems real. Please go to this restaurant. I urge you. I implore you. At the very least, get the fried rice. There is no possibility that you will be...
