I've been so anxious to give this place a try for my love of Argentine cuisine and culture. All great reviews with a dash of naysayer remorse. First attempt there were no more reservations being accepted. This time though, my whole family was coming for the New Year's. They came from Texas, Connecticut, North Carolina, North Florida. I made a reservation! I let everyone read up on all the great reviews. We were all anxious for a great dining experience. Well.(wha-whaa-whaaa) HUGH DISAPPOINTMENT !
Let's start at the beginning.
We were a party of ten being seated at a table for 6 maybe 8. We were shoulder to shoulder, so very cramped.
Service was slow and they were very confused and didn't know the menu or weren't able to describe how a dish was prepared.
All, everyone's orders were messed up! AND served at intervals. My end of the table was completely finished with our entire meal before my siste- in-law even got her meal at all. & then she had to send it back at first because it wasn't what she ordered. Big difference between a filet cut and a strip! The second attempt she was brought a RAW piece of filet! Not even cooked how she requested. She was the last one who hadn't even ate yet. Mind you there were ten of us who had all already eaten and this is how she recieved the most expensive cut they served! (She brought it home and I seasoned and grilled it for her properly. It was a delicious cut)
The food was terrible. Certain cuts of beef were adequate but not so grand I needed all the hype and make a reservation over, great. The calamari just needs to be removed from the menu.(or hey, learn to make it from scratch) I read another persons disatisfaction review on this so had to see for myself. The calamari looked like Burger Kings onion rings! Horrible. The texture was awful we threw most of the plate away. No one at the table would try anymore. My wife and sister had the mahi. Waaayyyy to salty! And I understand fish is going to be "fishy" but not low tide fishy! Mahi has a wonderful texture and flavor but this abortion was ghastly. I gave her a chicken breast off the platter my mother and I were sharing. My Nephew had linguini or should I say, linguini soup? All sauce and a couple strings of mushy (overcooked)linguini noodles.
Drinks. Refills on our drinks would've been greatly appreciated.
Its was way to hot inside. Turn up the A/C
I recommend chewing on a dog toy to get the taste of this place out of your mouths if you choose to try it out.
So what was good about this place? There was live entertainment. It's cultural. A little cramped but we were a larger group. We might've sat outside but it might've been more uncomfortable. The Spanish rice was flavorful! The meat platter presentation was a head Turner! (Loved the Chorizo) and the house Merlot wasn't terrible either!
Overall I hope that the regular staff was out and we got the fillin staff. The wait staff were working hard but weren't the "A" team. The kitchen staff just needs to go back to Denny's, no offense Dennys, okay Golden Corral and learn how to boil water and start over because they clearly don't know what they're doing. This coming from my many years in the restuarant biz. Only out of shear curiosity will I try this place again if only to test my territory that this was just and off night.
Signed, a very dissatisfied...
Read moreTo begin, we were told to make a reservation because it was 6 people, when we get there we were the only customers at the restaurant aside from some people sitting at the bar outside. Waitress seemed pleasant until I asked for a glass of wine, I said “I am having meat, which Cabernet Sauvignon do you have” She said well I will bring you a Malbec for that, (???), my husband asked for glass of Merlot, we place order for appetizers, she didn’t go put in the order, she asked right away for our entrée, as my son was asking waitress how do they prepare their Milanese, she explained that it is topped with ham and cheese so he asked if instead of ham could they top it with shrimp even if it was extra, to which waitress responded “ chicken topped with shrimp and mozzarella cheese? That doesn’t even go (really) I will bring you shrimp on the side, finally my mother asked if they had some type of soup, to which she responded “Ma’am this is an Argentinian restaurant and I don’t eat soup” (I am not Argentinian but if any Argentinian reads this, please let me know if you in your exquisite gastronomy don’t have soups? Food took forever, my husband and I were served the same type of wine not Malbec, not merlot, calamari was not fresh, maybe from frozen bag, my mom’s ravioli was not cooked properly it was raw and I didn’t know that sauce for ravioli was a whole separate charge, grill for two was overcooked some meat was very hard and chewy , some burned ,I was charged more that website states, waitress did bring shrimp on the side for my son “ 6 pieces of Cocktail shrimp?” (That doesn’t go!). Restaurant started to get busy, waitress finally came to table started picking up plates and I said, my husband is still eating, one of my other son’s asked for a box, two minutes later she came with boxes for everyone and started boxing everyone’s food, I had stopped eating because I was frustrated but my husband was still trying to eat, that did not matter, waitress continued to box food, she even took fork from another plate and picked up meat from my husband’s grill not with his own fork with someone else’s. She was in such hurry to get us out of there, then she disappeared, taking care of all arriving customers, I really wanted to go, I had to call someone else to get me the check. I was not going to tip her, but to my surprise I was automatically charged $ 33.27 tip. I will not recommend this...
Read moreUpdate: not at all the same experience. This place not only tried to pass a baseball sirloin off for a filet, they completely botched it, twice. Ordered it medium rare. First time it came out well done & because it was NOT FILET (what I ordered), it was tough as a shoe. I hate sending food back, but I couldn’t chew it. They rushed the 2nd baseball sirloin (again not the filet I ordered) and it came out raw. Not even rare. Totally inedible. My husband was already done with his meal at this point & we just wanted to leave. They brought the check, it included the filet. I asked them to please remove it as I didn’t get to eat it after an hour at their restaurant, leaving hungry. They adjusted the bill, we paid and left. I checked my credit card statement a few weeks later & they ran a higher amount than what we were presented & signed for. Basically adding the filet back to the bill without our consent. I called the restaurant & asked for this to be corrected. No call back. I took up issue with my credit card company because I still had the signed receipt for the correct amount & they refunded me. Go anywhere else than here if you are looking for a good piece of meat & an honest restaurant. Awful.
Former review from 2020: F*cking fabulous! Best steak experience we’ve had in Florida. And I’m talking the popular ones. They cook their meat over charcoal. It’s perfectly seasoned. I had the filet mignon skewers with light peppers & onions. My husband had the ribeye. Oh em gee. Super juicy, fork tender. Just delicious. We split a bottle of wine, a Bonarda from Mendoza. It was incredible. Very happy we...
