The flavoring is very mild. Their window says salt water taffy and so does the sign above the door but the flavors are definitely lacking the traditional "salt water" taste. We bought a little over a pound of various flavors and if you're looking for that true old fashioned salt water taffy taste stick with the salted caramel variations. The texture of all the flavors is more of a regular taffy texture than the old fashioned salt water taffy texture. All flavors from popcorn, cotton candy, cola, caramel apple, birthday cake, and even the fruity ones were very mild. Still tasty if you like mild sweetness but just don't expect a burst of flavor. Also please, please y'all need to get new wrappers. We chilled them like suggested and the wrappers still came off in pieces. It was just a mess and a lot of frustration and wasted product. We still have quite a bit left but everyone is over the pain of unwrapping them that we'll probably just throw them out. The staff was very friendly and the store is cute and it's pretty cool to see the machine in action. If the awful wrappers were fixed I'd still go back now that I know the expectation of the taste is mild and the texture resembles regular taffy vs. traditional salt water taffy. Taffy usually conjures painful memories of my childhood Halloween candy hauls being tainted by crummy, wax paper-wrapped orange pieces of junk. When my wife suggested we stop at this place while walking around midtown, I was not only skeptically hesitant, but mildly offended that she would even suggest it. Reluctantly, I agreed to entertain the idea if it would be just a quick visit. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by delightfully friendly employees who offered us a free sample. My gut reaction--based on my traumatic taffy past--was to decline, but the Root Beer Float flavor being offered tickled my curiosity and I obliged. All the painful, resentful taffy memories of years past instantly melted away as I was whisked away to sweet, blissful candy paradise! I had never experienced taffy like this! There were flavors as numerous as the stars in the sky to choose from, and not one of them was orange or wrapped in wax paper! We purchased a bag containing a variety of these tasty morsels, as you pay by the pound (at a quite reaonsable price!) and can pick and choose as you please. Absolutely loved this place! The Taffy was Amazing and the staff were very helpful and friendly! We will visit this place everytime we visit Ruidoso because how great our experience was!
