We had a reservation for 6:30pm. Decor and atmosphere were great. A bus boy came by quickly and got us all water (6 of us). After over 15 minutes of waiting, when the bus boy came to refill our drinks we asked if we could have our waitress sent over to us. He apologized for no one coming yet and said he would get her. We ordered chips & salsa as well as the Texas dice as appetizers. It took quite a while for the appetizers to arrive. Thankfully we had a small bucket of 7 slices of bread but that never got refilled. Appetizers were good and we really liked the chicken fried steak bites (Texas dice). What we ordered: Chicken fried steak, burger, shrimp Alfredo, kids chicken strips and two kids catfish plates. After waiting over a hour and a half we finally got our food. The salads were great and my mom and I enjoyed them. The Texas Dice was so good my mom was excited for her chicken fried steak. It was horrible. Tasted like a frozen patty that got fried pretty much. It also was not Texas sized, we are Texans. The burger was okay but nothing to get excited about or pay $15 for. The chicken strips was (1) piece of very flat chicken. That thing was flatter than a flap jack at breakfast. The catfish almost tasted like a mud cat. Definitely not what a fried cat fish should taste like. I am a shrimp lover so I was excited for the shrimp Alfredo. The Alfredo was okay but the shrimp (grilled) did not taste right. So much so that I couldn’t finish eating it because I was worried I could get sick. The bus boys checked on us multiple times and were professional and polite. We had to ask one of the bus boys for our check because we hardly saw our waitress. I had 2 bathroom trips with small children and never saw our waitress anywhere. Once we got our check 20% gratuity was added. I understand it was probably because we were a party of 6 and I totally understand that. I would have rather given our tip to the bus boys. As someone that was a waitress before I understand it is not the waitress fault if the kitchen is slow, however, that is when you check on and communicate with your table that much more and ensure they have what they need. If bread like in this instance is something your restaurant supplies to tables that should be kept full till declined when the wait is so long. For our last night on vacation we wanted to go out somewhere nice for dinner. We were very disappointed and will not return on our...
Read moreDespite the previous good experiences I've had at this restaurant, this past weekend was one of my worst dining experiences ever! The kitchen, that is supposed to have steak experts cooking top of the line meats, messed up not one but 2 steaks. The first attempt was a rib-eye ordered medium that came out completely RAW in the middle. They re-cooked it and returned it with the consistency of shoe leather. I then opted for an impossible-to-ruin filet, which they also managed to defy, again serving it completely raw and then returning completely charred. I asked if there were students in the kitchen and they assured me it was the same veteran chefs. Call me crazy but I lose confidence in a kitchen who can't cook their trademark steaks properly and worse when they lie to my face.... and even somehow managed to blame me. Their manager actually said to me, "Its just not your night" instead of taking responsibility for their incompetent kitchen. My server was so embarrassed she let me in on their secret that there have been so many complaints about their steaks lately, they had to change vendors, but they had to use all the bad steaks first. Ah-hah! Two hours later I had only eaten a salad and 3 partial servings of the side mashed potatoes they served with each mis-steak. I decided to switch it up for the last attempt and asked for pasta side dish, that was surprisingly edible. After the 4th and final flop I asked for just 4 grilled shrimp to mix in with the pasta and pretend it was scampi. After such an atrocious night, they actually had the gall to charge me $10 for 4 shrimps and $2.95 for the side of pasta. Their chocolate cake, another sure winner also disappointed tasting like glue. My one bite was spit out. By then I was done, went to leave and they actually brought me a check! So not only was the food inedible, the management and lack of customer service was atrocious. NEVER AGAIN!! According to my hotel staff, the feedback they've gotten has been very hit or miss, but alot more misses lately. I'll say, they missed...
Read moreI brought myself here for "selfie date night". I sat on the end of the bar area facing the stage. I ordered a glass of house cab (Josh) and a 12 Oz ribeye with a side salad and a baked potato. Water. Yep. Wine. Yes. A giant bull was placed atop the fireplace. The tabletop lamps had hide for shades. It was a good ambiance! Perfect for date night! Then some people sat down beside me, the guy started singing like Chris Stapleton, and I waited. I waited, looked around, drank some wine, gulped some wine.. maybe it is just a busy night (albeit 6pm). The people next to me got their appy, still no salad. Wine finished, here comes my steak. At this point, I thought, what the heck, be nice. I asked the waiter to forget about the salad he had already forgotten about. My steak was cooked perfectly, and potato was sour creamy and delicious. My wine is gone, my water has been devoured, and I still have 3/4 a meal to finish and I am thirsty. Let me remind you I took myself out on a date, so I wanted to drink and listen to music... I went to the bar to get a refill of water, not that it was out of my way to go to the bar but the little girl chewing bubble gum right beside me is just on standby clearing plates it seems... can she not too fill water? I digress... The bar tender was not thrilled she had to fill my glass, like it wasn't her job (which of course it wasn't except for the fact I am a steak eating lady thirsty really for wine but settling on water I fetch myself). Anyway.... I got my 51$ bill, which I was hoping for a larger one with wine refills and thrills of live music. I paid and left. Sorry Texas Club. Not a good showing...
