Newk's Eatery — Restaurant in Ruston

First of all, the restaurant is extremely clean and well organized. The person who took my order was incredibly unhelpful and should not be the first person a new customer interacts with. They weren't rude, just not helpful at all. I even said that "I'm new here" when she asked what I would like. I was down from Boise Idaho, visiting my mother, who had just broken her hip.

The real bright spot here was the guy putting orders together. I knew that my mother wanted the salad with the chicken salad, but I had forgotten what it was called. The order taker didn't express anything about the difference of a single scoup or the duo that had two different chicken salads and that was what my mother wanted, I just didn't realize there was any difference because again, "I'm new here". I asked where it was when he gave me my order, and he then explained the difference. I asked if i could just pay for it, and he was NOT having that. He gave me the chicken salad at no charge when I was more than happy to pay. This simple interaction completely changed my outlook on th3 entire establishment. Hes the reason I gave 3 stars...

No complaints on the service or atmosphere but in my opinion that should be an automatic 4 or 5 star no matter where you go. The one star is the most important star the food. I moved here about 8 months ago and so many people just roared about how good this place is. I went the first time and too me it was an overpriced subway sandwich. Did not go back until today and I got the lobster bisque. I asked if it came with bread they told me it would be extra, im like I'm spending 10.00 on it a piece of bread sho6be standard it always has been even at the high class restaurants. Well then I get the bisque and all it was was nothing but a little flavoring never even had a little piece of crab or lobster in it. Honestly I have had better out of a can at Walmart for quarter of the price, by far not worth even close to what it cost. I'm not one to complain to a manager because I just know where not to go back too again. This place has many good reviews and I love giving a great review but unfortunately the one star is what they earned from this guest. Bread is cheap your establishment is not maybe a little compromise would be...

11/23: Multiple visits later = still enjoy going here, but the Newk's club & the Cheesesteak are our current favs (the chicken has been way too dry several times when I tried my previous fav). Get the tomato basil soup & homemade croutons! The veggie portabello pizza was tasty but had way too much olive oil on it (my hand was doused). Both mac & cheeses are good. Miss the multigrain sandwich bread too! Prices have gone up a lot.

9/2021: Chicken pesto sandwich was so amazing. My hubs loved the Newks Q (white BBQ) sandwich. The crawfish pepperjack & tomato soups are tasty. Pizzas = excellence; love their...
