This was my first time at this restaurant. I tried the lunch buffet. It was actually pretty decent. My only reservation is that it is very small and has fewer selections than most others. The price was fair for what they offered but if they could find a way to expand the buffet they could charge more. The chicken pakora was good and there was a nice tamarind sauce and a great sweet and spicy chili sauce for dipping. I have never had vegetable spring rolls at an Indian restaurant before and it was just ok. The rice was plain and thanks to an Indian man i dated many years back i make a mean curry chicken and vegetable rice which is better than the buffet rice. I came when they opened so it took a few minutes for naan bread to be delivered but it was fresh and tasty. The temperature of the foods was good. I hate it when the buffet food isnt kept warm enough. The dahl curry was good ad was the saag that along with spinache had some type of bean in it for a nice texture. The tandoori chicken was nice but the best dishes were the aloo korma with potatoes and eggplant. I dont usually like eggplant but this was well done and the medium spice and flavor were excellent. Finally came the butter chicken. My 4 favorite Indian dishes are chicken vindaloo chicken tika masala mushroom mutter and butter chicken. If a place cant get these right they dont get my business. The butter chicken here was excellent. Rich and creamy and tasty. I wish they offered rasam soup and mushroom mutter but the butter chicken did not disappoint. Also each table is given a very nice and large water pitcher so u do not constantly run out. The fresh watermelon was a welcome surprise. While i was there a party of 6 Indian people came in. They were disappointed that their favorite fish pakora has been replaced with chicken. The complained to the owner who said they rotate dishes weekly. He was so kind however that he made them a batch of fish pakora on the house as they are good and frequent customers. That's excellent service. I will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Chaat of India in Sacramento, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight! The management team, Gurmeet and Rajinder, are true gems. Their dedication and passion for delivering an exceptional dining experience were evident throughout my visit.
Under the new ownership, Chaat of India has truly taken its game to a whole new level. The transformation is remarkable, and it's clear that they are committed to excellence.
The service was not only lightning fast but also incredibly friendly. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and ensure my dining experience was top-notch.
Now, let's talk about the foodāthe star of the show! I opted for the Navrattan Korma and Garlic Naan, and I'm still savoring the flavors. The Navrattan Korma was a masterpieceāfresh, delicious, and perfectly spiced. I requested a "Medium" spice level, and it was spot on. The vegetables were incredibly tender and bursting with freshness.
The Garlic Naan was a revelation. Served hot off the oven, it was soft, flavorful, and downright delicious. The perfect accompaniment to the already stellar Navrattan Korma. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes!
I'm also eagerly anticipating exploring their buffet soon. If my individual dining experience was anything to go by, the buffet promises to be a culinary adventure.
In conclusion, Chaat of India is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic and delectable Indian cuisine. Kudos to Gurmeet, Rajinder, and the entire team for creating a dining haven that combines exceptional service with mouthwatering dishes. I'll definitely be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have eaten here perhaps thirty times at the buffet and with the menu. As you might imagine, I enjoy it. The atmosphere in the former location was more interested intimate like a cafe, but the new location is really better that you can move around easily and not bump elbows . The buffet always has new items and old favorites. I enjoy being treated like a family member and never rushed. The menu is really really good and I've had the early evening meal there as well as evening . As they have sweets there, you always have a selection of the day on the buffet.
I am updating my review as I've eaten here twice as many times and off the menu as well as the buffet. It has improved over time and the fish is really great tasting and i thought i would add that. I've brought many people and family from out of town and they love it. The fish is what I've noticed changed this last month. The batter is tasty and light. The fish is just right. The atmosphere is casual and family like. The dining room is very big now so lots of space. The newest addition is a cooler with khulfi ice cream treats there. They have mango and pistachio flavors. Those are on the side but i thought i would say how good they are. Also this restaurant does cakes and sweets for events so you can buy them by weight etc. They always have something to tempt you. I love milk sweets about once a year because they're just too good. I am grateful that we have this place in this...
